godalming is an absolute shithole. Lived there for a bit all fur coats and no knickers as my nan used to say.
Weybridge, Surrey. Ever been there.? Millionaire’s row, but not all that. Had a job there 10 years back painting posh pub signs. Took a week, stayed on the job. Some cracking Polish lads doing the refurb, very skilled & a reight laugh. Went & found John Lennon’s 60s house, remains of Oatlands, an old Tudor Royal Palace & Brooklands racing circuit. There was a cheeky other pub putting on old punk stuff, bizarrely. Jimmy Pursey was due to play, but had finished the job, but had been there a week & wanted to go home. Got my 2 grand & ****ed off. Eh? Godalming where Charterhouse school is? Odd definition of 'absolute shithole' that! Where else is on your list - Windsor and Richmond-upon-Thames?
Sheffield has Dore but we don’t judge it by that. If you ever get the chance to live there you’ll see. Tunbridge Wells is another shithole. Richmond is a lovely place spoiled by its residents though in fairness I lived in Twickenham and only popped over for drinkies
I lived in Richmond very briefly when I first moved to London and I'm not especially fond. The bus route from Kew to Kingston is a really good one though.. well, if you like looking at really nice houses over their tall fences! I love Kingston though. Some great craft beer pubs, good food and some nice shops (if they survive) with a lovely food market around the very old and partially preserved market square.
yesh agree. That bus route is one of the quiet joys of London and Kingston has always had a cool independent vibe.
So what is wrong with St George’s Hill in Weybridge. Seems to be quite a few wanting to sell up and move out.
Few years back we did a load of work on Bishops Avenue in London, at the time it was cited as most expensive street in the world to live in. Just had a quick look and still seems silly money. https://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/Bishops-Avenue-Area/detached.html
