Against a team of sh1thouses and pretty woeful ref. proper ground it out Victor, what a lad ! You reds!
Lov I’m absolutely delighted with the win and thought we did well second half, with great substitutions from VI, but that poor first half brings me nowhere near to loving the performance. Just wish we could be better in possession.
This. This is the sort of game we’ve lost again and again and again since we’ve had a policy of young players. I love Sollbauer. Properly knows how to cheat.
"Bottle", as Tim Flowers used to say. I agree, that previous seasons, the last 3 games we would have lost.
The proverbial game of two halves. They deserved nothing though and it's finally dawned on us how to "play the game". Metamorphosis into big boys as we look on from our computer screens.
I thought we played well. First performance where I could see where we're headed. Good balance between long ball and passing. Midfield looked organised. Runs were timed. It all clicked in a methodical sense.
Fantastic hardworking 3pts and well deserved especially from a losing position. I wish we would ditch the zonal marking though
Grinding results out is something we've struggled with at this level for years, being able to do it makes a huge difference. Look at Bournemouth. Two big victories and then they grind a 1-0 home win out v Wycombe. I've seen little of us until this last fortnight, what I've seen I've enjoyed. In patches we are good to watch, there are spells where we perhaps a bit naive with decision making, but we look a well organised and competent side. I wouldn't expect us to go through a game without the opposition having chances, it's part of what makes football exciting, but we have a decent keeper too who is protecting us pretty well. And ultimately we get more points for a win and a loss than two draws. We've played better football, but nothing beats winning football, and credit to all for our recent form. This genuinely feels to me like progress that we can sustain, even though we play Swansea next, the mindset is that we can get something from it, but not be dispirited if we don't.
Don’t think it was that ugly we were crying out for some fresh legs after 30 minutes just to impose ourselves more. Well done V the changes changed the game
Never thought we wouldn’t win that game. Even after they scored we were in control. Great game play and fantastic result.
Tell Occy Health you're suffering enormously from the effects of being isolated for so long. You just need one day in the office to improve your mental wellbeing, and need to be housed in a perspex box for the day (reasonable adjustment) whilst doing nothing but rodding the nob enders throughout. If they object, claim discrimination against non nob enders. If nowt else, it'll keep some jobsworths busy.
Looked in control for most of the match with the exception of the first two minutes and a spell in the first half. I wouldn't call it a very ugly performance. Woodrow looked good today. Victor exceptional and he didn't let it get to him when the ref tried to unfairly stop his game. Defenders are allowed to use their strength to push someone off the ball but apparently attackers aren't. If I'm being very picky I'd say Walton needs to work on his goal kicks so they stay in play and the centre backs need to work on their threat at corners and free kicks. It's something Barnsley don't have at the moment.
