but the timing of that. The thing that kept us n the division was 100% Covid and 0% some grand plan on part of the board.

thing this is spot on. The gap between us and the better teams was clear in the Bournemouth game but a happy season of mid table mediocrity is like falling into the arms of an old lover.

you would have gladly taken that at the start of the season.

Do whatever we need to do to cement our place in the Championship long-term. I’m happy without the promotion push but I don’t want to be in League One again. Whether that’s succession planning, back room staff upgrade, whatever - gerrit dun.

I'm happy with mid table mediocrity - think we'll be 15th/16th.

Then we can push on hopefully if we keep the squad together, lose a bit of the deadwood and make a few quality signings.

I think the owners know there isn't much cash sloshing about at the moment. A poor time to sell & a good time to buy.We need to offload a few, like Bahre & send one or two on loan, like Simoes. 3 decent players in & we could have a very good season. For me mid table would be an achievement, but who knows?

How many windows is it now we have been trying to replace Moore. Not sure we will be successful this time either unless they invest in an experienced forward and with money being tight at the mo. God knows.

Covid has been the same for every club therefore I see it as no advantage or disadvantage for every club , its a level playing field , I think we have progressed because our young green players have last years experience to help them ,coupled with having a coach that knows what he is doing & long may it continue with the key for me being that we keep the core group together & add extra quality when we can .

When our passing accuracy gets above 65%. In the 2nd half yesterday it was 41%!

Depends on expectations, for me its just atm establishing ourselves as a mid championship side, having gone through many previous seasons struggling in this league I would be happy to get 5 games from the end knowing if we lose them all we will still be safe, then just try and improve season on season

covid was the reason why Wigan going into admin in May allowed us to stay up. Normally the season is over land this would not have happen. It is the only reason we didn’t get relegated.

I"ve got to disagree with you, covid was not the reason Wigan went into admin , they did not incur that amount of debt over a few weeks , they may have tried to con the league & get out of trouble using covid as an excuse but that backfired on them , signing players they could not afford on wages they could not afford brought about their downfall & the reason we stayed up is that we finished with 49 points , Wigan new the rules , broke the rules & paid the price & if they had played to the rules they would not have signed the players of the calibre of what they did & consequently would not have accumulated the points they did .

Some of the performances last season definitely merited a place in the Championship especially the last 3 games .

I am talking specifically about the timing of it. But at the end of the day on performance we did not get enough points to stay in the league. Covid and it’s timing saved us

Agreed though some of the performances were not. In a normal season based on performances we get relegated

Covid gave everyone a chance to regroup but if ever a group of players deserved some good fortune it is the current squad in the bottom 3 from September onwards alternating bottom with Luton for most of that time most people just thought we were preparing for League 1 football and would be bestsave energy for the new season.

For me we just need to really establish our self at this level, and I don't mean by been in a relegation dog fight each season like it was 10 years back. Building on what we have done and trying to move forward if we do sell a player get the best we can for them.

I think the team has gained strength from last season and the new manager is guiding them in their improvement. Its an exciting time to be a Barnsley fan with some talented young players .
