Day two, feel absolutely rancid. The missus on the other hand feels fine, but she's lost her sense of taste and smell. I can smell fine, which when you've got no appetite isn't much fun anyway.

Quite frustrating to get it so close to the vaccination being available. Thought I'd dodged it! Fingers crossed I'll be over it soon, as this is really not recommended.

My missus had to take my daughter to a health check up at her sports school the other week, and it was rammed, so she thinks it was from there. At the end of the day we can only be so careful but we unless you're super high risk, you can't just completely withdraw from life for a year. As for Sputnik, I think I'll wait for my UK dose personally!

Hope you feel better soon MT. My son and daughter in law have both recovered from
it. They remain convinced that their son caught it at school and infected them, but
of course they are unable to prove that as a fact. By some miracle, our grand daughter
( their daughter) who has allergy issues and attends the same school as her brother,
managed to self isolate and therefore fortunately didn't end up with the virus.

I got it in September and my partner didn't. I got through ok at 66. Just weak and listless for a long while. Lost close to a stone cos I had no appetite. Lousy slimming regime though lol. Good luck and keep safe.

Hope you're OK mate. Stay safe and as others have suggested, get tested if you can.

Thanks everyone. Getting tested tomorrow. Although I've been chatting with some friends and colleagues this morning, and quite a few of them had all the classic symptoms but tested negative.

If I end up losing a stone or two, that would be a very welcome side effect! Although right now my main concern is whether we can fly to England for Christmas. So far it's looking highly doubtful, as obviously have to err on the very cautious side with this.

My mate n his wife both had it at the same time. He was bed bound and at death's door. She only lost her taste. Weird innit!!!

The one which baffles me is how a couple can sleep in the same bed breathing in the same air and only one of them contract the virus.

Yep, that happened to some friends of mine. She lost her sense of taste and tested positive. He had no symptoms at all, did all the tests and they all came back negative.

I think some people have a natural immunity to it even though the scientists say they don't.

This pretty much describes our situation at the moment. Though she's whingeing as she made chicken soup which she can't taste and I can! It went down very nicely actually! I trust your mate has recovered now?

I recall something being said (although I don't know how true it is) that some people can be genetically immune to it. It's part of the reason that some countries have been more prone to it than others. It could be down to each individual's immune system either.

My Mrs was really ill last November (she's convinced herself now that it was Covid). She had no appetite for food, had a temperature, and felt ill every time she moved. It was before we were living together, so I went over to check in on her on an evening, definitely breathing the same air, and I was absolutely fine. I very rarely get ill, beyond a common cold or generally feeling under the weather anyway. So it could just be down to immune system either.

Is it Neanderthal genes make it worse for anybody that contracts it?
