In general I hear you. For me it's fleeting memories of Mexico 86, but Italia 90 I can remember pretty much every game. USA 94 had some wonderful moments as well apart from the final, but I'm struggling to place goals in tournaments. Was Bergkamp's genius goal against Argentina in 94? Lechkov's header against Germany certainly was.
Can see him in my minds eye from the days we only saw these stars in big tournaments ,Italy always had an iconic striker over years ,sure I had him as a double in my sticker collection,2 Rossi’s for a Linekar anyone RIP fella
There were some high scoring games in USA 94. Used to stay up late at night watching them with my telly on mute so Dad didn't hear it.
You must be early 40s, too. My mum is Northern Irish, and I remember her telling me that Pat Jennings had played his last game when they got knocked out by Mexico. I also remember the Hand of God - I watched it live - but didn't really know what was going on.
Yes, exactly, I was 8 in 86. The Hand of God it literally my earliest football memory. First Barnsley match was in 87 against Plymouth, which I actually remember pretty clearly.
Got banned for bribery, as I remember. But what a great player. The ‘82 World Cup is a great childhood memory. Brazil were awesome. Socrates became my football hero, still is..
As an 8 year old Rossi was one of the first players I remember, so much so I used to like pretending to be Rossi when playing knock out Wembley at playtimes at school, great player RIP Paolo
There is pond life in Italy as well as the UK. Paolo Rossi: Italian World Cup hero's home burgled during funeral https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-55290883
If If my memory serves me right he was banned for bribery along with a few others but the italian authorities overturned his conviction in order for him to play in the world cup of 82.
