Dependant on where you lived Helen you may well personally known a lot of Forest fans, Stapleford as an example is between them but would have been Forest mainly, but despite Nottingham’s population being 3 times Derby, Derby’s attendance is circa 7k more than Forest. So like I originally said no team dominates the area.
Filling my nappies when Forest were good, and not being alive when Derby were? Ok, nothing more to be said... (As for Sky Sports, they've never had a single penny out of me. And never will.)
Pointless debating this with someone who has no interest in football history, Barnsley or anyone else.
Don't forget there 2002 season when they went into admin, got relegated and got promoted the following season. After that points deduction were brought in as a ruling.
Yep - their administration was a disgrace. I don't dispute that. And I have no love for them after their 'one Stephen Dawson' chant - the fvcking cvnts. But in this era, epoch, whatever you want to call it, they are the dominant team in their part of the world. Forest's European Cups are growing moss, and Derby have not even got to a cup final in my lifetime.
Tbf it was back in the 70s but neither side has really torn up trees recently, much of a muchness really.
I speak only for myself, and it means nothing to me that Derby were good before I was born. Why would it? Oooh, they won the league before I was even conceived. Good for them, and good for Derby fans, but it's irrelevant to me. Barnsley's history matters to me, but that's because I support Barnsley.
Given his recent run of results, Cocus sacking seemed inevitable. Got to know a couple of Derby fans who worked for Eastern Shires Purchasing Organisation ( based in Leicester). They have become increasingly frustrated with Derbys abject performances recently particularly when their co-workers most of whom support the Foxes are constantly extracting the urine as to how far they have fallen. General opinion over who will take the reins, is that unless it's a relatively unknown foreign candidate , the best man to at least stabilise them would be ex-Wigan boss Paul Cook. The lads that I speak to, think it would not be a good move to give the job to Wayne Rooney on a permanent basis, although he might steady the ship as caretaker until such times as a new permanent appointment can be made.
Oh please let them give it to the granny shagger on a full time basis so he can take them into L1. That would be wonderful!
A semblance of reason. Mind you, I live in Swadlincote and most people round here support Derby, and to be honest they're pretty deluded and think that they are still a massive club based on a few years of success under Brian Clough. They remind me of another club and their fans....
Steve McClaren is back at Derby as Technical Director and Chief Advisor to the Board. Sounds as though he could be asked to mentor Rooney as Player/Coach.
Probably has, I know they were on about it when Cocu was sacked but wasn't sure it had actually happened.
