Just saw Cctv footage on Beeb news of a woman smashing dozens of bottles of wine off the shelves in a supermarket down south in some sort of Covid rage.

She got a caution. A caution.

She needed locking up, that is no punishment.

It was criminal damage on a large scale. Call me old fashioned but....

Just watched it. I don't agree. She needs anger management counselling.

You are right , she went crackers in the shop smashing everything & anything & terrifying the poor shop assistant . I could not believe she only got a caution , at the very least she should have got 200 hours community service & made to repay the cost of the damage .

With the title of this thread l thought this was some device that was on sale for breaking your bottles up to put in the wheelie bin to save space - one of the great inconveniences during lockdown.

I've still a chance with Dragons Den.

Disgusting, no wonder they do it!!!! No point locking her up but there as to be a punishment of at least paying for the damage.

I was in Tesco yesterday and there was a guy going nuts pouring domestos all over the fruit counter.
He was arrested and charged with Bleach of the Peach.

Would the shop keeper have been justified to smash a bottle over her head, if he felt threatened?

Yes I would say so if they felt physically threatened. Would soon put a stop to that. But then the shop keeper would likely be going to jail, ironically.

There's an outside chance she has kids and went home with that anger. I'm sure a caution helped keep those kids out of harms way.

They could use "Wine Bottle Smasher" as the fill in line for "Fairy tale of New York".

Perhaps not, but treating her anger would afford a longer term solution than locking her up to build up more rage.

I didn't realise that destroying wine was such an emotive subject, no wonder off-licences are considered as essential shops.

I thought that originally but flashing someone in the coop before smashing a load of wine bottles felt a bit weird. But it's all a bit weird anyway
