Can anyone on here get tickets? Was a member for years but haven’t been a member for last few year. Trying to get hold of some tickets for any of the games
I’ve got tickets for all the group games assuming they’re at Wembley still. Had tickets for the Quarter Final in Rome and Semi Final but handed the back with all the Covid havoc to the timings and locations. No idea how you’d get tickets now without being part of the England club as I think you need the app to transfer them from one fan to another (that’s what we had to do for the Nations League in Portugal)
I don’t think that many got returned to be fair. I’ve got tickets for all of England’s games, they just carried over from last year. I think any tickets that have been handed back will be snapped up by members anyway when they do go on sale.
The Euro 21 competition was discussed on Football Focus at noon today. They were asking that given the Covid pandemic and the fact that in its aftermath, it's looking very likely that countless thousands of people across the globe could unfortunately be made redundant, does it make sense for fifty one games to be played in twelve capital cities throughout Europe.? The consensus appeared to be that in order to make it affordable if of course fans can be admitted during 2021, given their success in staging the last World Cup EUFA ask Russia to host it. Failing that, the U.K. has the stadiums and the experience to host a competition of that size and complexity. What do BBS contributors think to such an idea.? While from a selfish point of view I'd be delighted if it went to Russia again (and they did a grand job of hosting the WC), I think it should definitely go to England (or the UK), as the final stages are already allocated to Wembley. Also, the distances are much smaller, and we haven't had a major tournament since 1996. Superb as Russia 2018 was, the distances WERE an issue. The free trains did not work particularly well, as I found out to my disappointment when trying to get from St Petersburg to Samara and back for the quarter final. No trains at all from St P to Moscow, meaning I needed to first get there myself (not too big a deal), but the big problem was there were no trains back from Samara until Tuesday, three days after the game! So the whole jaunt would have taken five days. The alternative was 600 euros for flights, which was not realistic, especially when calculating in how much semi final and possibly final tickets were likely to cost me on the black market. In the end I signed it off, and people were reportedly giving away tickets outside the stadium. It's a massive pity as Samara is supposed to be a cracking city, especially in summer time.
Personally I think it’s flawed. I’ve not checked costs but would have thought having in one country makes it cheaper for the host nation fans to attend but more expensive for rest. ie It would be cheaper for me to go to all games in UK, cheaper for Italian in Italy etc, but if games were in Italy it would be dearer for me.
It's a tricky one, but I find myself agreeing with the suggestion that whilst in normal times it could be novel for some fans to enjoy their travels across Europe, at the moment times are far from normal. Even though we have the hope of a vaccine against Covid 19, the latest predictions are that it's effects won't be fully felt until next Winter, it make eminent sense that if fans are allowed to attend, it might be best to stage the whole tournament in the U.K.
