Broadgreen International School has the honour of being one of the first to be tested enmass for Covid by the Army.

No parental consent required. Unless you opt out its happening.

Any children who returns postive will be secured away until an appropriate adult can collect them.

Are you implying this is a good thing or a bad thing?

    • A bad thing I assume. Sounds like a private school so I'm sure if parents are unhappy about it they wont agree to the tests. Maybe they are happy for them though if it allows the children to travel back home.

If you’ve heard about it then you can 100% guarantee the parents have too and if they don’t want their children taking part they will have plenty of chance to say that. Schools often use opt out policies for things because getting signed letters back is an absolute nightmare, even when everyone agrees with whatever is proposed. I’m almost certain they’ll have had a blanket permission slip signed when the child entered the school too saying that they agree to various medical related things.

‘Secured away’ means sat in a room with a member of staff not tied up in a cupboard.

Yet more proof in this post that if you scare people enough they’ll excuse or support anything.

There's a reason for this test though, we re in the middle of a pandemic . As has been pointed out, you don't have to consent to the test and if you dont want it then you don't have to have it.

Its not a private school as far as I'm aware. One of the pages in its website is about how to get free school meals

Excuse or support what though? Deetee is trying to scare people with his ‘no parental consent required, if you don’t opt out it’s happening’ line. Whilst technically true, it is extremely misleading. Basically, parents will have had a letter or text from school saying ‘on this date we will be conducting Covid 19 testing, if you don’t want your child to take part, let us know’. We know that is the case as we have heard that it is going to happen, not that it has happened. The OP is implying that schools are secretly sneaking people into school without the parents’ knowledge and testing kids. In reality, parents are able to make an informed choice in advance and any child that they don’t want to be tested won’t be tested.

Just looked it up, you're right. Most international schools tend to be private.

Really don't get the issue, personally. Any parent that opts out is a knob, too.

Seems very odd to me that those most against the restrictions are also the ones that are against getting a handle on the virus so that restrictions can be relaxed.

This was my daughter's secondary school - it's just by the M62. Would have preferred them to be tested as their mum is in vulnerable category. Certainly isn't private - just a bog standard secondary school

On wiki it says this "The school operates the International Baccalaureate, which has been available at the school since 1992" which I assume is where the name comes from.

Interestingly the school has a football pitch that cost a third of a million quid. Funded by the premier League who as we lol know supports alllllll grass roots football around the country. It's just a coincidence that it's Ross Barkleys former school.

They have overseas students in Sixth Form and they don't do traditional A levels - they do the International Baccalaureate

Nothing special - just a standard astro turf pitch. Also a community use pitch which offers sports clubs to disadvantaged kids so does support grass roots football and multi sports. Primary school I worked in had a 500k one - not just because Dale Jennings attended lol
