Praise for the first couple of performances, in my eyes, follows from results rather than display, though who would complain? But you yourself point out the limitations up front, so why adopt a tactic of banging it up top from the back, when we've got a tidy midfield to try and create, and slip our "nippy" strikers in etc.? Was that the tactic, or was it forced on us by them pressing our three centre backs initially and leaving no other option? In the second half, when their forwards tired and didn’t press as much (or realised they didn’t need to as we’d never score anyway) we had a greater hold on the midfield, and more time for Mowatt and James on the ball, not that it did much good.
