End of an era for him. Hopefully he pops up from time to time on different shows. Lovely touch there to bring in Parky as a surprise for him.

Good old Harry, I hope he has a very long and very healthy retirement, I met the man in York briefly and he was charming and polite.

Didn't he have Prostate/bladder cancer a few years ago? He looks like his Dad now.

My Dad sent him a letter asking if he was a Leeds fan. He replied but didn't answer the question. Skirted round it stating he was a fan of all Yorkshire clubs and remained impartial.

I’m not sure it’s a coincidence but the BBC local news seem to be having a cull.

south west, north west, and Yorks have all let there news anchor go recently

Yes he's certainly aged a fair bit since I last saw him on the tele a few short years ago. Then again he's 85 now and none of us last forever unfortunately

I thought the same. I know he's 85 but he's aged alot in a short space of time since he was doing interviews to promote his tour that was supposed to be happening now.

How else is he going to get free tickets when somebody plays at Wembley? :)

Seriously though, he is a lovely bloke, met him once and managed to speak to him for a couple of minutes. He's a seriously grounded bloke as you'd expect from someone from Barnsley.

I can't see him being fit enough to do any live shows sadly.

I was shocked at Parky's appearance but at his age he is entitled to look like that. It just goes to show though how good television lighting is and how skilled make up artists are.

I bet if he appeared on a new production now he would look nothing like his "au naturel" look :)

Rugby league was his bag. Till he didn’t like the way it was going. Someone on here said he follows park avenue. Being from Bradford. So completely would understand that response. Got some unnecessary criticism on a previous thread for me.
Why do we always knock folk we haven’t a clue about. when they become famous. Dickie Bird is unpopular with a lot of Barnsley folk. ( tight etc etc, is it not a Barnsley trait. I prefer prudent. :)) Some having claimed in the past. He only appears to support Barnsley. When in eg. finals. As big a Barnsley fan as there is. Season ticket holder for many a year. Unable to attend most games during his cricketing years as he was in demand most of the year round.
