Would have been a realistic target.. Not past it at 29. Free agent as well, but looks like he is off to Swansea, Still need the rumoured James deal and this additional forward and it will have been a good window.
But he's a free agent, he doesn't need to sign for anyone today. Probably waiting for the right deal. He's not going to up sticks and come to the Championship for 90% less than he's been getting in Italy.
But the fact is faced with an option of Swansea, on lets say even 15k a week or us on, at best, half that, what's he going to choose? Even those figures are probably miles off in reality
Think it works both ways.. All down to the players history etc... Now 29, not wanted by his previous club. Yeah, I get the no transfer fee side of things but he's obviously not in high demand having left at the end of August. Be interesting where he ends up.
He'll end up at lower league Serie A team, quality player but not very physical. The Championship wouldn't suit him, maybe another European team like Schalke may try and get him he's a free and they're pretty screwed at the minute.
Some people seem to think that all footballers without a club are living on benefits and will accept the first offer that comes along. The good ones are all millionaires and can afford to be choosey.
