https://www.expressandstar.com/spor...ren-moore-no-regrets-over-managing-west-brom/ “I was a defender by trade; I like keeping clean sheets, but I also like my teams to be attack-minded. I want them to play open, front-foot football. Want players to express themselves, and have the freedom to make the right decisions.." "playing open, expansive, attacking football. By playing different shapes and formations that will catch the opposition out and allow you to get your nose in front...” Perhaps I can dream? Be nice though don't you think?
It is unlikely. I mean the way the board operates it's a case of "why appoint someone from just down the road when you can just as easily make someone move from the other side of the continent" cynical me
Stendel and Struber were good appointments, though? It's one thing the board seem to be quite good at.
I like Darren Moore a lot. Seems like a cracking bloke. Therefore I don't want him to become our manager. I don't want anyone I like to be subject to the restrictions and frustrations of working for a board of directors who simply do not care about success on the football field. Success for Barnsley FC is only judged terms of finance and I don't want Darren to become the mouthpiece for that, for which he will contractually be obliged to do should he become our manager. He has zero chance of football success, no manager has, so I'd prefer that poisoned chalice to be grabbed by someone I don't care about.
They were will of the wisps compared with Darren. If he said jump they'd ask how high. Big lad, no messing. No chance.
Moore would be a great appointment, but who knows. Will give any appointee support. Stendel & Struber decent choices. Morais less so, although looked to have the best CV of the 3 with who he worked with.
Morais was a millions to throw at it Nuno (Wolves) inspired appointment. Morais probably came in expecting billionaire owners, decent side down on it's luck climb the league and spend money in the summer. He was probably a Cryne pick before he got to know the new owners strategy properly. It turned out to be a disaster but may have worked out at a club spending money.
I think Hecky bailed, partly due to the new owners, but mostly due to a big lump of cash. Morais seemed like a new age hippy running a football team. Beyond the words "believe" and a different formation / line up every week, I could see nothing more than a man that had been hoping for divine inspiration. Ronnie Glavin is alive.
