I know what you mean but we would lose whichever we played. To me Europe has always been an extra. I prefered it in the old days when the European championship was a cup with the best sides from each league in it so we had our champions in and that was it. then we had a side in the cup winners cup and another 3 or so in the UEFA cup its something a club could hope to qualify for Even if I was a Liverpool or Manchester United fan and was given the choice between watching games against West Ham Aston Villa Newcastle every week or games against Bayern Munich, Juventos and Barcelona - Id want the domestic competition. Ideally you want your cake with a cherry on top but you would rather have just the cake instead of just the cherries
Crikey, we can't even aspire to beat Wednesday now lol (yes I know our recent record against them isn't very good)
I think it means he's in favour. For me the key word is judiciously, using another e.g. unilaterally, would have indicated disagreement. May be wrong though as it's a bit taken out of a bigger article.
Whenever an elite cut the ladder that allows others to climb you know that something is rotten. Giving some clubs special voting rights will end badly for everyone else.
Keep the league as it is and if any club doesn't like it they can go find their own league to play in.
They should have said that 28 years ago when the big clubs and sky dreamed up the PL. It always was a vehicle for the big clubs to have all the money and power to themselves and for Sky to make loads of Money. You watch the first thing the big 6-9 clubs will.do is vote for their matches to be removed from the main deal and to go PPV that would reduce the amount of money the other PL clubs get from TV and so reduce the amount the EFL clubs get while the big clubs get more and under the proposed new structure theres bugger all the other clubs could do about it.
David Conn's take on it: https://www.theguardian.com/footbal...all-pyramid-should-not-be-swept-off-the-table
This "project" epitomises everything that is wrong with the game today. To have clubs in danger of folding and then see this as a perfect opportunity to exploit that is absolutely disgusting.
No way Man U and Liverpool are doing this alone. Anyone else think like me that Sky are the driving force behind this and the big two have been trusted with the job of seeing it through.
Have the 'big 6' just been able to define themselves as being the big 6? Spurs have never even won the PL, maybe Leicester should take their place in the big 6. City were needing an injury time equaliser to get promoted from the third tier in the not too distant past. Newcastle and Villa have probably played more seasons in the PL than them
No probably about it. Newcastle and Villa have definitely played more PL seasons than City. As have West Ham
I know Palios is against it but how do you know Conway is for it. The majority of EFL clubs (most of which will get nowhere near the Prem) will be for it because it offers a safety net
Tbh I wish the likes of Manurea and Liverpool bugger off to their European superleague and we can have a proper domestic league again where we can all have the thrill of possibly being champions of England and can actually be there in person.
