According to Dane he’s one we’ve been chasing a while. Wasn’t he available on a free transfer a few short months ago?

Yes he was, it's a standard statement when we sign someone now. must think us supporters are daft.

    Anyway, welcome to Oakwell Callum

He was out of contract all summer and would have cost nothing so the club chased him so hard and for so long that we waited until he signed a new contract with MKD.
Then four weeks after signing that contract we bought him for an undisclosed fee

    Proper wordsmith is our Dane

A wonder what Jordan Williams thinks after signing a new deal we then go out next day and sign someone who plays in his preferred position although there’s nothing wrong with competition for places.

Or, just hear me out, at the same time he was being tracked by Chelsea and Arsenal he was also on our radar. We wanted him in the Summer but chose to back the Head Coach and bring back Fans’ Favourite Ludewig.

With the Head Coach departing we’ve opted to bring him in now as a permanent player rather than develop a loan signing for someone else to benefit, as per the previous recruitment policy that we made flexible to support Struber.

Well maybe Jordan and this new lad can do down the right together.

And we can stick Thomas on the left where ritzy was.....

That’s not any inside info. It’s just a scenario that would make more sense than the club letting a player they could have got for a tribunal fee in the Summer.

We just lost a RB. And we’ve just replaced him with a RB.

Ok, just your post came across as a more matter of fact. If indeed is the case, then many would be ok with it if the club said as much

Not sure after the Killian comment in that announcement they’ll fancy digging Gerhard out. And I wouldn’t want them to.

New signing. Highly rated. 100 games in League One under his belt. Welcome to Oakwell - whether we should have signed you two months ago or two years ago.

According to flashscores, Callum Brittain is listed as a Forward - quite strange

I've no issue with the signing.

    In fact I welcome it.

So you're surmising Struber didn't want him so the club held off, even though Dane states:

"This is a significant addition to our squad, and one we've been chasing for a while.
Callum is a terrific young talent who had a number of suitors, so for us to win the race for his signature is especially pleasing"

If Struber didn't want him in favour of Ludewig, why did the club continue in the "race for his signature"?
This seems to infer that the club were pursuing Brittain in any case, no matter what Struber thought and that the club were making this recruiting decision, not the coach.
Either way Brittain had no offers all summer hence he re-signed for MKD, then after a month we make an offer which now costs us money.
So I take Dan'e statement with a large pinch of sodium chloride

However as many have said, however he got here, welcome Callum

Then I'd say we haven't been chasing him for quite a while. If we were chasing him for quite a while then we were chasing him when he was out of contract. If the manager didn't want him then simply put we weren't chasing him.

Would have cost us money in the Summer anyway due to his age. Judging by reports about the same as we’ve paid now.

We could still be tracking him and trying to sign up at different stages of the Summer. I’m sure Killian wasn’t coming back if we’d have got relegated, or Struber for that matter. It’s not like clubs don’t discuss transfers with a different players at different times, sound them out, etc.
