Rush Hour covered it brilliantly. It's a matter of context or whose saying it individually. Personally it's a deplorable word that I'd never use. One example I can think of was at work when I worked at Haribo. Everybody called me Shadrack because I liked to get p1ssed and I support Barnsley, Barnsley being nicknamed The Dingles etc. Anyway I didn't mind it off people I classed as mates. However, one afternoon this annoying porter who got on my tits said "orate Shadrack". I replied, "it's Steve to you or nothing at all". He didn't speak to me for months then called me "Stephen" after that he was a ****. I think it's who says things that's the problem.
Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, I give you exhibit A. Quickly and unsurprisingly backed up by many of the other usual exhibits. No wonder most folk with sensible right of centre viewpoints rarely bother with the BBS these days. As for trawling back through my previous posts in order to discern whether you consider my opinions to be acceptable - you'd have made a fine Gestapo officer.
There was "leaked documents" drifting around social media a few years ago that suggested the home office was complicit in the cover up but their authenticy was never validated. However, given that it was an almost open secret in Rotherham as far back as '03 plus the initial Derby trials being under media blackout - thank the BNP of all people for bringing it out into the light. Plus the **** show that was Rochdale where its apparent that a blind eye was being turned. It is quite apparent that people up at the top were well aware of what was going on. As for the bobby on the beat. They were well aware of what was going on in their towns. In some cases even complicit.
That drama about the Rochdale one with Maxine Peake was amazing. It was ***** what happened to the Police officer after she did all that hard work.
Wrong way round - I disagreed with your post and then looked back at your post history to try and understand what sort of person might hold those views. I was unsurprised by the result.
Oh aye Tony and Gordon Were often pounding the beat on downtown Rovrum. Gotta love a deranged conspiracy. Facebook has a lot to answer for.
Just out of interest, is this the sh!tshow in Rochdale due to a Muslim grooming gang, or the sh!tshow in Rochdale due to Cyril Smith and his mates? The same Cyril Smith who was the local MP for years and rumours about his behaviour were ignored until after his death. Twice would imply a problem with the local police force and their investigation of these crimes.
But the reason I am seeing it like that is because it was a term to belittle in the first place, and many non whites found it derogatory. If another male says to you, don't call women bitches its derogatory would it just be men seeing it in that way?
Terms that can be seen as derogatory should be treated as derogatory - and not used - unless in exceptional circumstances, such as between friends when you know that they're OK. If the other person doesn't think it was OK then it wasn't acceptable, no matter how much you wish it might have been. This isn't 'woke'. It's normal. It's how language works, it's how society has worked for thousands of years, and it really shouldn't be difficult.
No. However, most of the bitches I've known have been dominatrix's that have enjoyed being powerful or having a hold over someone or something. I don't think they, themselves would look at being a bitch as derogatory.
But that was nothing at all to get offended about, black people couldn't stop laughing about that one.
To add a bit more of Stew; "And if political correctness has achieved one thing, it's to make the Conservative Party cloak its inherent racism behind more creative language".
Have to be honest and say, I had never heard that phrase before, so I googled it expecting it to be from an old comedy show
No, actually Tory Party local campaign message. Their xenophopia is now more subtle, letter boxes & piccaninny watermelon smiles for example.
Yeah, I saw, was even more shocked when I read that it worked for him, with a big swing, but even worse was the attitudes of the MP's afterwards
Yes I do. I was pulling your leg. You can have sexy bitch, kinky bitch, rough bitch, hard bitch, bitch female dog. Women saying "you're my bitch" to their partner or "hello biatch" to each other. On the whole it's derogatory I agree. There are differing contexts to the term bitch which some might not find offensive.
