Interesting article in MLS news about possibilty that David Wagner being tipped for a move to MLS after leaving present club. As the noise from Oakwell is deafening by its absence it does make you wonder what is happening behind the scenes at BFC. ...
What do you want the club to say ? Struber has left ? Struber is staying ? We’ll get to know if it happens
I think it's the noise coming from over the pond that is deafening by its absence not Oakwell, think you are having a pop at the wrong club
Not much the club can say at the moment, that’s not already been said. There’s a clause, if it’s met and Struber agrees terms with a club, then he’s gone. It’s Struber that we’re waiting for news from.
The longer the whole thing drags on, leads me to believe that quite possibly, it's now not going to happen. That's not to say that Struber might want to go, but Red Bulls seemingly lack of urgency in pushing the deal through, suggests that they might well have cooled on the idea. To me, it also makes eminent sense to go for someone like David Wagner. It could be argued that the latters managerial "pedigree" when compared to Gerhards is slightly better, in that he was in charge of Borussia Dortmund 11 and it was rumoured that in 2015, he was poised to join his friend and former Mainz 5 team mate Jurgen Klopp as his assistant at Liverpool, before a last minute change of mind, which lead to him taking up the challenge as manager of Huddersfield Town. It's well documented that two seasons after his initial appointment, he lead Town into the Premier Division. In the January of 2019, he left Town by mutual consent and in the May of that same year, he accepted the role of boss of Bundesliga outfit Schalke 04, but after eighteen consecutive defeats, he was finally relieved of his command in the September of 2020. With regards to Red Bull, not withstanding their concern regarding his lack of success in his second season with Huddersfield and his apparent unfortunate failure in Germany, an attraction when compared to Struber is that there would be no compensation fee involved which surely must count in Wagners favour.? Whilst on the face of things, it might appear that the whole issue is having little or no effect on our players, the board or Struber himself, for our "collective" well being, we need to see that the matter is pursued to a speedy and satisfactory conclusion in order that everyone's efforts can be directed in the right areas, to ensure that our season is not not derailed by the uncertainty over the longevity of Struber as the coach of Barnsley FC.
Or is it simply that with an international break coming up, Struber has agreed to take charge of the team for the last time at Middlesbrough on Saturday?
I very much doubt that. Think the club would prefer to get him out and have Murray take over for a game, if he's already agreed to leave.
Did I hear correctly on radio Sheffield yesterday that the club has confirmed that red bull have made their request for struber official and it's now solely his decision?
I'm dreading this weekend because all this must impact on the players so I'm expecting an heavy defeat
Nailed on. Just getting Boro game out the way before international break. Tbh I’m ambivalent. Struber and Stendel were both unheard of. They will be confident of getting another coach of similar calibre. In this climate, if we’re getting c2m compo, they will see it as good business. As far as I see it struber leaving isn’t our biggest problem.
€2m in the bank from this, during a season where it’s possible fans may miss the entire season is not a bad thing. The club on the whole might be keen for it in some respects. The existence of the club is more important than any single manager or player.
Why would RB want Wagner? They are crazy if that ends up being true. He got Huddersfield to the premier league as the first team to ever get there with a minus goal difference and got through three play off games by only scoring one goal. He kept them in the premier league with anti football tactics, suffered second season syndrome and left them in the lurch with a load of useless high earners on the books. Went back to Germany where he was shockingly out of his depth with an abysmal record that was worse than the likes of Spackman had with us.
