Our electric cooker is in need of a really good clean. If anyone has used a professional local company to do this recently, would be grateful for any help please.
We pay Currys £4 per month for an annual valet. They use a firm from Sheffield. We had our last service during 2019, although from then to date they've still taken our £4. They have suspended the service because of the Covid outbreak. Looking at the last advice note, the direct number for the Sheffield outfit is 01772 718256. They send two operatives to clean our Zanussi cooker and it's absolutely like new when they've finished.
Tbh I think any company would get it sparkling. Mine came out like new and it needed doing! Got my daughter on it during lock down, a lot of elbow grease needed but a fairly straightforward job.
Currys must have Care, after care and valet services for thousands of customers. so thinking about it as you say Troff, they might well use a National operation, or more likely, the cooker valeting side of things could well be a franchise. From memory, the lads who last did it turned up in a van with a " Northern Oven Cleaners" logo on the side of it.
I don’t get this cooker cleaning service, why are people letting theirs get that bad? There’s no such thing as a hoovering service once a year, or a bedding washing service etc. as it makes more sense to not let it get in such a state that you have to buy in a professional to clean it on its birthday.
Sciatica , arthritis and hip replacements. are just three reasons why a lot of older folks can't kneel or bend low down enough to clean their cooker. We never had a problem when the one we had at Donny was at waist height, but now , being a slot in just above floor level, it's an absolute tow , so we now have ours valeted. Same applies to cleaning windows and simple jobs like mowing the lawn. My old Mum used to say " there's nothing to look forward to by growing old". How right she was. It's also costly, because when something needs doing round the house and garden, the jobs you would have done without a second thought in the past, have to be done by bringing a tradesperson in. We recently had to have a new close coupled WC pan, cistern and soil and vent stack connector fitted. It cost me £625.00. Yesterday, we had a new Honeywell Central Heating Timer and Programmer fitted at a cost of £160. Like Dick Turpin, both operatives wore a Face mask. I swear, I nearly shed a tear when I was making the cheques out to pay for both jobs.
That's a fair price GR. They used quite a few disposable cloths and quite an amount of specialist chemicals to clean ours. I liked that they used dust sheets and took the racking to their vehicle to clean that up. Two operatives attended and it took just over one hour for them to complete the whole process. So for £48, we received value for money. Don't know if they have to pay Currys anything for the lead.
I use this, Costs 2.99 from B&m makes oven look like a new one. We didn’t clean it for first 3 years we moved into house and oven still cleaned easy https://www.bmstores.co.uk/brands/oven-pride maybe I’m tight but I would never pay someone to clean my oven when it’s not exactly a hard job
nailed it there, the mrs has a cleaning/ironing and oven clean business. its fools money but obviously she doesn't mind. £40 for a single oven takes her about an hour. Obviously some older folk cant but mainly its people who are too lazy to do it themselves.
