Gerhard Struber after Barnsley’s 6-0 defeat at Chelsea: “The quality in our offence is OK but we need new strikers. The board knows what we want and I think we’re in a very good exchange. In the end they have to invest otherwise we have a similar situation like the last year.” Struber: ”Now we lose Brown. Brown was for us a big player with a big impact in our pressing and now we need a replacement. We can see at the moment we play very well without output.” I asked if he’s hopeful the board will back him. “I hope it.” More @footballheaven.
Funny how the board weren't bothered about the contact they say Stendel had with Huddersfield until he started to criticise the board in public.
The board need to take note ASAP because we've needed a decent forward now for over a year as Moore wasn't adequately replaced.
Whilst I sympathise with him having to work for a board of directors like we have, it doesn't change the fact I think he is out of his depth, tough times ahead I fear.
Hes only saying what we and the rest of the football world know. Personally I give nothing to rumours of spending 1 ir 2m+ on any striker. Ain't gunna happen.
Hoping against hope that Cauley was taken off with the idea that he would be starting on Saturday. I thought first half he and Styles were the ones giving us control in their half. I’d start with Woodrow and Schmidt upfront as the most likely to take a chance
Bought left-footed left back, strong defensive midfielder to free-up Mowatt and athletic, prolific striker. Cauley to play up front with him. (21)
I’ll be surprised if Struber is still here at the end of the season if this continues. Whether it’s because he ends up walking away or being fired. I can’t decide if he is poor at reading games, or whether he just has no other options in the squad to be able to mix things up enough when games aren’t going to plan.
I was going to say the same thing. If he's moaning about having no strikers I get that - we haven't replaced Moore and now we've lost Brown. But may want to give that Woodrow chap a go. He might be ok you know.
I like him even more now. He’s not the yes man I wrongly accused him of when he took the job. Give it to em Struber lad. Let’s hope they take it on board.
The passing out from the back doesn’t work for us but he still insists on the team trying it the first time it failed last night you would have thought let’s scrap this and play basic football but they carried on it’s going to cost us more games throughout the season if it carries on the formation doesn’t work either IMO it’s got to be 4-4-2 with some wide men who can get the ball into the box I think we need to cash in Woodrow and mowatt whilst we can
And how is getting rid of our 2 best players is going to help? It certainly didnt help at the beginning of last season!
