I think last night’s news would indicate that there will be no fans in stadium this season and therefore little income. Would have thought that will make our decision regarding a striker - ie there won’t be one coming through the door as the cash will be needed to keep the club going and cover the losses
I think you probably right & keeping the club going long term is the most important thing . I suspect the club will take pelters from some of the fan base but with limited income our hands might well be tied , we will see .
They've got the season ticked revenue, won't be paying for match stewarding or policing. Hopefully we can stay up again this season, butI'm worried we will still lose players.
All of the 8k season ticket holders would have to be accommodated in any reopening scenario before any pay per game fans could attend and that looks along away off. (Post vaccine?). I therefore don’t see that yesterday’s news as any immediate financial impact on us. It’s the league 2 and quite a few league 1 clubs that are going to be up against it
Maybe one out and one in to finish out transfer dealings? The obvious one is Woodrow, it has been discussed on here numerous times how he doesn't seem to fit the Struber. I don't want him to leave but I think if the owners get an offer of £2m + add ons then he will be gone. Expect us then to spend 750k - 1m on a replacement.
I think last season proved if they don’t put their hands in their pockets it’s false economy, because it’s another relegation battle otherwise, no goals equals very few points
Season ticket revenue is massively down due to reduced prices and reduced numbers. They also had to fund refund requests from fans last season. No hospitality or corporate revenue. All existing sponsorship payments likely on hold. No match ball sponsors either. No match day ticket revenue to cover the costs of policing and stewards. No bumper away followings either. The lack of awareness when people shout ‘where’s the Brown money gone’ is frightening. We must be skint right now with the only benefit being we’ve moved a few decent earners on.
The transfer scene nationally seems to have gone very quiet. It's probably that a) clubs reckon they will need to save cash in order to tough out the lockdown; b) players are reluctant to move, especially internationally, which might their having to be quarantined and unable to get back home easily; c) there are usually one or two really big-money deals which stir cash flow into the system and spark other transfers - apart from Ollie Watkins, there has not been much of that to reach the Championship and below this season. For all those reasons, i would say that: any deal to sell Woodrow will be unlikely to happen now and that he will stay the season. This also would mean that any pre-bought replacement won't happen either. I just hope that Cauley is allowed, once the decision is made, to get off warming the bench and come back like a new transfer. He was our top scorer last season and, once he knows he is staying, i would wager that he will give his all to the cause for another year. Fifteen more goals, Cauley!! Oh! And fifteen for Conor Chaplin too. Ten apiece for the three players at the point of the diamond. Optimism, eh! Don't you just love it!
My choice would be Keinan Davis from Villa personally. Just signed a new deal there but will be no where near first team with the other options they have. Played in this league before and is a big strong powerful striker with a bit of pace. Be ideal with us for a season.
I would agree with all of this, but it does then beg the question why we made repeated bids for the likes of Dykes, Whiteman and also made bids for various overseas players? Only thing I can can think is we were expecting to get a substantial bid for Cauley which hasn’t materialised
How do you know we've made repeated bids? Dykes keep getting mentioned but I've not seen anything that says we made an official bid. I'm not saying money isn't there. But with all these things considered I'm not surprised we're being cautious with our money and not allowing the selling club to inflate the price (or the player inflate his wages).
Out of this won’t there also be some cost to iFollow? I can’t see them giving all the codes away for free. No idea how much this would be, but even a reduced rate of £2 per code based on 7.5k season ticket holders is £15k a game.
Sooner or later (probably later) clubs and players will have to reassess their transfer fee/wage expectations. I suspect that's what we, and many other clubs, are waiting for. Who blinks first?
Yes he has, but mostly substitute appearances. Also is he likely to get game time now they've got Watkins?
No idea myself. But did you see how the iFollow money is split? Looked farcical but there was this story on Colchester vs. Bolton - the annual number is pretty scary and unfair to me. https://www.manchestereveningnews.c...-ifollow-streaming-revenue-explained-18975658
