Nixon also reporting that the money from the training ground sale has gone straight to admin fees.

Now then, this fans thing has been driven by the Wigan fans themselves yet gets presented as though it was the GG and the groups idea. Hmmm.

I believe the penny might have dropped to a few Wigan fans that their ire towards us because Barnsley happened to survive and they didn’t was a little futile, as their club has a very high chance of disappearing.

They are actively looking (the fans) to take another points penalty, -15 this time, so they can survive. Krasner et al from Begbies look to be refusing offers which don’t cover their huge fees in full and so look likely to strip assets.

The Wigan fans anger towards us was completely misplaced, but it was also an emotional reaction in anger, and sometimes we are all guilty of that. They don’t deserve to lose their football club altogether. I hope something works out for them.

With the mess that is currently occurring at Oakwell, we are certainly in no position to be confident of our future either.

They forgot the bit where it’s our fault that the funds have been mismanaged for years....

I just don’t know how their fans don’t see the amount of money the club was pissing away and think that everything was ok? Did they truly believe that a struggling championship club, with average gates could sustain the wages and player purchases they had?

But why not? When (nearly) every other championship club is doing the same. It's difficult to see that it's madness - when it's the 'norm'. Their losses are nowhere near the worst.

I guess so... and in the same way, they won’t be the last to go under. Mega rich owners can find this kind of thing... rich owners can’t only do it for so long.

It seems to me speculative owners can hold the EFL, Supporters and Towns/City’s to ransom .
Either get what they want or threaten to withdraw funding or relocate.
Oh for a local/fan owner who has the club at heart .

The administrators have a lot to answer for, not least throwing money on a futile attempt at trying to to block the points deduction

Admins are doing the same job they always do, of course they don’t have the club at heart.

Anyone remember Matt “done ‘em” Dunham?

I see Wigan as different to most of the other clubs in that respect. Everything they have achieved is off the back of Whelans involvement.

Without him there would have been no new stadium, premier league or increase in attendances. Also, there would have been no gloating when they took Moore from us, and no calling us a ‘shitty little club’ - our paths would rarely have crossed.

I think most clubs that got involved in chucking money at it have something else to show for their time in the football league at some point in their history. Struggling to find any with Wigan, Bournemouth and Reading.

Wigan won the FA cup quite recently but I take your general point.

reading really piss me off actually, a proper nothing club spunking millions to achieve bang average.

Again, Chuck their Fa cup win in with their time in the prem. Without whelan, they’d have had neither.

I can’t understand the continued investment in Reading. Usually once the first owner loses interest it’s a slippery slope - maybe their time will come?
