Can’t believe he’s an old journeyman now! Doesn’t seem long since he burst onto the scene Good player back then, shame his career has trailed off
He'll be fine. There are some gorgeous villages in Suffolk he could live in within a short distance of Ipswich. My favourite being Lavenham. If you don't know it then Google it. I'm jealous.
I remember the cynical Michael Brown challenge. Shortly before that Butterfield had either challenged or got past brown and you could see by the look on Brown's face that he was going to get revenge. I even said so to the person I was sat with. Not sure if his reaction prior was picked up by cameras
Didn't it come about at the time, that Butterfield had heard the Leeds manager (wasn't it Blackwell) essentially order Brown to take him out of the game. He'd done a couple of bad tackles prior, and had asked the ref for protection. Then that third one came in and ended his season.
Agree. Brown owes him a career imo. He would have played in the top flight no question. Edit: that's not to say he hasn't had a career - but it could have been so much more.
It was Simon Grayson who was scum manager at the time and he was still having a go at Butterfield as he limped off down the touchline to the dressing rooms we had the last laugh though when Butterfield's replacement Vaz Te then proceeded to destroy the scum.
Funny with Butterfield, thought he was okay at Luton last season, we got better than average results on the few occassions he started. Seemed decent
