WATCH EXTENDED HIGHLIGHTS OF NEWCASTLE CLASH Club News Head over to iFollow Barnsley to enjoy nearly 20 minutes of footage from our final pre-season friendly of the summer, as the Reds met the Magpies at the latter's training ground. Continue reading on the official site...
You need to click on Video Archive on the iFollow tab. See image below, it will appear. When they updated the platform recently, they went live with it too quickly in my opinion and so it has bugs that they're trying to rectify.
That miss from Woodrow after a clever corner from Styles.. Needs to find his shooting boots again does the lad.

Yeah, that's why we embedded it into an article. We are assured by the EFL that the bugs will be fixed before the start of the season, and in fairness, it plays and looks a little better I think. And from our end, it's massively improved. Much simpler to upload now. So fingers crossed etc. Regards the actual match, it was massively one-sided for 75 minutes; we should have been at least three goals up before their penalty won it. But we made a lot of changes, and it coincided with them bringing on Saint-Maximin and Almiron. All of Ludewig, Oduor, Styles, Mowatt, Andersen, Sollbauer, Woodrow, Brown and Chaplin were off by then. It filled me with more optimism heading into the new campaign. I just wish we'd find a ruthless streak because we'd probably be top half we are that good with and without the ball at times. Time will tell. It was also the coldest August day I've ever known, pouring with rain and a 50mph wind. Different!
All those happy little faces on the sidelines in that wind.. Styles looked to have been involved in plenty looking at those highlights. Were you impressed with him? Looking forward to seeing him get plenty of game time this coming season.
He looked a class act. Played next to Mowatt in midfield, with Clarke left wing-back. And whilst I can't say anyone didn't play well (we were much better than the score suggests), Ritzmaier was stand-out in the second half at left wing-back. And again, I felt George Miller was very decent replacing Ludewig second half on the other side. We just need to be ruthless.
Well on that evidence we absolutely battered them. But how many times did we say the same last season - eg Leeds away. So looking at that we should have won 3-8. Again again and again - easy enough chances going begging. It looked liked Brown had another game where he had put the wrong boots on the wrong feet. But surprisingly Chaplin also looked guilty of chances going begging. Mowatt had his usual limp flaps at the goal - but so did Styles. It’s NOT good enough.
Hard to make judgement so harshly like that based on a friendly against a premier league club though.
Final 3rd again..for me.....not taking chances ...cost us games last season....needs addressing sooner than later....isn't it about time somebody took it upon themselves and tried shooting rather than trying to walk it into the net. All the time.... Still a good run out no matter the score line ..yes it's only a friendly but it's a measure of the problems weve faced and are still facing up top.... Dont know about the rest of you but i'm still in the we need a big number 9 camp....what you reckon.....answers on a £20.00 note if you wish lol
Yep. Good solid performance. But we have to be more clinical in front of goal. We sorted the defensive side out which were costing us points but I fear the attacking side. in the ability to put the ball away still appears lacking and will cost us more points than I believe we are capable of achieving. Could be the difference between mid table to just outside the play offs. ( or even inside the play offs)
50mph wind, plenty of rain, and no cover or elevation from which to film. Certainly an experience. Terrific performance though. Very positive.
