Obviously difficult to judge from highlights of a pre season game. However, good to see schmidt involved in a lot of the play. Frieser seemed to have a bit of class about him. And George miller is the new Cafu.

Some strange shirt numbers, but I wouldn’t read too much into it.

The only change I can see happening is Styles to number 4. Reckon Mowatt will stay 27 and can’t see Miller at 3 or Wolfe at 8.

Good run out...and I know it's only a friendly warm up game...and these are just highlights...but the same problem exists in my opinion....front of goal ...final third....we need to make our chances count ..

Schmidt looked good and involved on that showing. He got a lot of (unjust) stick last season but I think his impact in the last 2 games helped his reputation a bit, hopefully he’ll have a good season and prove some more wrong. I do accept this was the first pre season game against a league 1 side though so not the best to judge things on...

With Styles pinging the corners in now, I wonder if we’ll be a bit more of a threat than in the last few years? He looked impressive going forward too.

Chaplin with the armband with another header. He gets more headers than a guy his height should. Simoes and Frieser both showed some decent touches too.

All in all, it looked a solid display judging on the highlights. Anyone know when our next game is? I’m pretty sure we play Newcastle, is that next Saturday?

We took 25 players to St. George’s Park, so 25 shirts were numbered up for the friendlies. They’ll now be passed onto the U23s for this season, as they’re nameless.

Squad numbers haven’t been confirmed as yet, but some lads did wear their number today. Some didn’t. It will all become clear I suppose.

There will be changes. And, there will be new players to come who might want certain numbers.

    Yep, at their training ground.

The boys have done two, on one day three sessions each day this last week. They did a session an hour before we left SGP, so I personally expected a leggy performance. And they definitely lacked spark after the first half hour, but were pretty comfy throughout, neither BFC keeper had a real save to make. And Crewe are decent opposition, they play good stuff.

    Good run-out.

Gutting to see what happened to Ben yesterday though. Completely innocuous and now likely to miss the season. He was absolutely devastated.

To end on a bright note - the kit today looked cracking. Proper BFC away kit.

Appreciate if you can’t/don’t want to answer this, but why wasn’t the game streamed today? Will the Newcastle game be watchable?

Yeah, sad news for Ben and us. Hopefully he’ll make a good recovery and won’t lose his edge because he loves a tackle does Ben.

Agree with the kit. We always look good in white with a black trim.

Is it just me who thinks the white kit looks toss then? Like the home kit though. And great highlights today whitey, thanks to the media team for that. Reports suggested that styles has been playing wing back. Is that right? Mixed feelings on that one, as although I think he can play that position, I'd prefer him in midfield.

Styles in 4. Quite apt given the comments about him - hope he does go on to be as good. Looks a player! Just need to hang on to him.

I genuinely don't know why we couldn't stream. It's decided by the two coaches, so I dunno. We still filmed it all, hence the highlights, so I dunno. It's a weird industry at times.

Makes our life easier if we can stream.

I prefer the white one of the three kits. Although when it arrived, I didn't like it as much as I did from the original picture. I prefer the thick solid black line over the shoulders to the thinner stripes on the red and yellow ones.

In terms of Styles, it didn't look like he did from the highlights. It seems he was on the left of the diamond. With Jordan Williams at left back and being encouraged to make forward runs.
