Is it better to quarantine all countries for say 6 weeks rather than make changes to the quarantine list short notice every few days? the uncertainty is whats costing people and businesses and does it really protect this way. the simple solution is a world class track and trace system with testing on entry. Its a fine line between world class and non existent In this govs definition.
Wouldn't that just stop people travelling anywhere for 6 weeks? It would be counter productive to make people isolate who'd come in from a country with a very low infection rate eg New Zealand.
The time for quarantine was back in March/April and for sone reason we didnt. Biw because the rules are so messed up everyone is doing their own thing. Countries are going in and out of the exempt list like yo yos!!
Are there any direct flights from NZ to the UK? Shortest I can see from a quick search is a stopover in LA, most flights have 2 or even 3 - which are an infection vector. So yes, in theory people from NZ should be ok (see also Taiwan, Vietnam, etc), *but* only if they travel directly to the UK. Otherwise they could easily pick up an infection en route and spread it around.
But if all goes away how are the Tories going to give loads of public money to their friends / themselves.
