    ....... as tho every player that Barnsley is linked with which is reported in the media - we lose out on.
    The impression is that we don’t win any of the bidding wars.
    We all know we need a tall target man - so where do we go from here?
    Another continental player ?

    We can only go on what is being reported.
    But as he’s a type of player that we are short of then it adds up that we are in for him - and many hope that we are.
    So it’s a disappointment when that player goes elsewhere.

    That is so true. Its as if we appear to make bids that we know wont get accepted making us look like we are trying to bring in half decent players, but really knowing that we will bring in untested talent from abroad who will take time to adjust. Unfortunately or not this is the way we will continue to do business. If we keep the squad together we will be in a better position from last season, although it would be nice to have real quality added to the team in the positions we need to strengthen.

    Can't see anyone getting him tbh unless it's silly money. They are in same league as us next season and expect him to start for them next season as they will be losing the likes of Wilson, King etc.

    I am more inclined not to lay the blame towards the club , they have made no statement eluding to any interest in Dykes , however , if you were to say that a clever agent might drop hints about our club & other clubs being interested in him , thus creating genuine interest from clubs & subsequently start a bidding war , then I might believe that . I believe agents are behind most rumours .

    We have no solid proof we actually did bid, it was just reported in the papers somewhere we did. Our local journos didn't even know of our interest so we may not have even submitted any offers at all.
