Families all over the country are having to consoul A level students whose grades have been downgraded because apparently too many were given higher estimated grades by their tutors so the government decided it would amend these grades so they reflected a schools past performance but as the Twitter thread below shows there's one set of pupils that doesn't seem to apply to, independent fee paying schools who apparently can have an 168% increase in A to A* from last year to this in one case and that's allowed. This is an absolute national scandal and if it doesn't make you angry it bloody well should and if you vote Tory it should make you ashamed enough never to vote for them again. ITS ONE RULE FOR THE RICH ONE RULE FOR THE REST WRIT LARGE BY BORIS AND CO

Just one of any number of examples since Johnson took power. What gets me is why so many people do not see it.

Because they don’t want to. The fascists think they are getting what they want. And til they perceive to get that, they’ll tolerate any collateral damage.

My daughter was having private tuition, in one of her A-level subjects, to turn her 'guaranteed' B/C into more of an A/B.
    She got a D!!!
I am watching closely as to how the appeals process unfolds as I shall be joining that queue too.

I'm guessing she didn't attend an independent fee paying school or that B/C would have become an A/A* under Boris the clowns master plan to fill our universities full of toffs and put our kids into the dole queues and minimum wage jobs because he believes that's where they belong

Non of this matters. It will all be forgotten when the next election comes and the lies start.

I was reading an article this morning, young lass took her A levels last year and got C,B and E. Her school, a private fee paying one put her forward for A*, A and A in her re sit. She’s mithering because she was awarded 3 B’s and will miss out on a place at Cambridge. It’s not just the poor kids getting seen off (Although they generally seem to be massively disadvantaged in this whole shitshow) it appears in this case the computer got it right and will stop someone who isn’t clever enough taking a place of a more deserving candidate. Shame it didn’t stop Williamson

Close to the chop if stories are to be believed. Struggling with the unions to get pupils back to school full time from next month and now the A level fiasco. If the GSCE result doesn't run smoothly next week either....

Their incompetence knows no bounds. Neither does their arrogance! But they’re what people voted for - we are more & more getting what some people deserve but foistered on us all. Highest covid deaths (despite “downgrading” the numbers), hardest hit economy/recession but don’t worry, the dummy uplands will be here in just over 4 months! Praise be to the. quitlings who won!

Kids at state school who'd been studying at A/A* and achieved that in their mocks downgraded to a D because that's the historic average of their school is a scandal and every working / Middle class person in this country should be up in arms at the blatant elitism that's behind these A level downgrades it's like the Tories don't believe our kids could possibly be intelligent enough to get an A/A* grade.

The Tories get in because people aren't bothered enough to vote for change. As long as they can get pissed once or twice a week, have a roof over their head they're not bothered. All the crap about exams, corona, Cummings etc etc will indeed be forgotten and ignored next election and they'll get in again. Shame on Corbyn for suggesting things should change... Commie nob obviously he was...

We're sliding back into feudalism and I bet the tories are peeing themselves with each thing they get away with.

Johnson et als' pay masters must be sitting around their private clubs making more and more ridiculous bets with each other about what they can get the public to vote for

Trouble is, if it happens it’ll be more of the same if not worse. He’s just an obstacle, not the problem

Our youngest gets her GCSEs next week. Dreading it. Ordinarily, she'd have done well. Even if they take her mocks (which she was ill prior to), it would be disappointing, but ok. Fully expecting her to be doubly downgraded, Her school is one of the worst in the league tables, but she was happy there and doing well. She's going to be penalised for staying at her local school. She has a place secured at the College she has dreamed of going to - unless her English and Maths are below 4. The only way that could happen is if a) She turned up and didn't answer any questions, or b) a corrupt Tory Government were involved in fiddling grades.

She took GCSE drama 2 years ago at the age of 14, and got a Grade 7. Fully expecting that to be downgraded to a 4 now!

They are not fascists. I’d suggest keeping that word in its proper context. It will be important when we need to recognise the real ones.

It's not reported widely enough, if at all. I only know about this particular issue because I've read this thread. And that's after seeing no end of A level results coverage on the BBC news channel.

The other annoying thing is that we seem to be increasingly reliant on individuals to unearth this stuff. Whatever happened to investigative journalism?

Well the main strain news outlets are in the pockets of the Govt. BBC1 for example has never been more pro- Govt. I watched an interview a couple of days ago with Gavin Williamson, and the BBC reporter asked the question why the change of mind when 24 hours previously he had said there was nothing wrong, she had him squirming then she spoiled it by dubbing over his answer by explaining why the Govt were in a difficult position. Terrible journalism.
