According to this he's told them he wants to come to us: https://www.footballinsider247.com/...-wants-move-after-bid-tabled-ibrox-exclusive/ Hope it's true that we're his favoured choice
Agent and club forcing up the transfer fee. The usual circus that surrounds transfer moves. Not sure we can afford it either given that we don't know what division we will be playing in.
Surely we wouldn’t be offering this kind of money for a player if we were worried about being relegated.
Well done to the lad for finishing all those chances, all of them well taken, but that is Sunday league football. How easy is it to cross the ball in that league? There are fat lads who can barely run walking past the full back. It's no wonder that every time we get a player from Scotland, in the team of the season, the great white hype, that they turn out to be *****. You can't tell if anyone is any good as what they're up against is so bad.
That's what I thought originally. The supply is amazing. Then I watched the defending again. It's appalling. Not suggesting the wing play isn't good, but it's done at half speed. If any of them tried that against our full backs they'd be in the wall bottom. And our full backs are a long way from being the best in this league. But streets ahead of that rubbish.
That’s what I’m thinking. Anything to convince myself that our hard earned Championship status isn’t about to be robbed from us!
Watkins, Lindsay and Jimbo were hardly terrible for us. Obviously you can counter that with Mallan and Hemmings and no doubt countless others. But the ones that came with genuine credentials or awards have tended to end up half decent.
I agree, "half decent". Alright. But nothing special. And all three you've mentioned took quite a while to get up to speed.
I think it was the ‘turn out to be *****’ comment that made me reply. We got nearly 100 games out of Jimbo, well liked, and only relegated in his last game. Promoted with Watkins who I thought was a far better player for us than he’s proved elsewhere since leaving. Mid-table Championship, at one point on the cusp of the playoffs. Relegated and promoted with Lindsay and made in excess of £2 million in the process.
I love Jimbo. Left everything out on the pitch. Sometimes he could barely walk when the game was over he'd given that much. But he wasn't a great player. Watkins and Lindsay did OK but the fact that they were considered to be the best in Scotland when in reality they were average says everything about that league. No one who has watched Barnsley will ever claim they were some of the best players we've had. Many on here wouldn't have selected them at the time. And we're talking about the best we've got from Scotland. Every player up there who shows a modicum of skill is over hyped because the standard is so poor.
I would be very surprised if we were putting bids in for players without knowing for sure our financial position. Seems more likely a story leaked by an agent looking to maximise his profit.
Of course people won’t claim they’re some of the best players we’ve had. But I think a majority rather than a minority would have picked Lindsay and Watkins in the team at the time. Even to call them average feels harsh to me, but it’s all about opinions isn’t it. I just struggle when fans make sweeping statements that feel a touch too extreme.
