It’s my understanding that Wigan have put in an appeal against the 12 point deduction but if results go their way tonight and they can’t be relegated with the 12 points they are to withdraw it. Now that says to me that it’s not on principle they’re appealing but to avoid relegation . If this is true it stinks and if an appeal had gone in they should lose more points for appealing an EFL rule, Solicitors gonna have a field day if Wigan aren’t relegated imo .
Yep, that’s exactly what administrators said. It will cost them to appeal but they have to try; but if they stay up not worth the cost.
Didn’t there used to be a thing if you appealed a disciplinary and were unsuccessful it would be extended?
Yes that’s my understanding of how it used but not sure if it still applies . I’m told it’s costing Wigan &400,000/500,000 to appeal I’m not sure if this figure is true or a wind up but how can an administrative afford that on a gamble when they are indebted to investors . It should be straight forward with no appeal they are in admin, end of and EFL should be telling them this imo .
Appeals should only be allowed to demonstrate a case...if it's done as a tactic, the punishment for the original offence should be increased significantly.
the thing is that new season cant be planned/cup games drawn/contracts sorted/ new signing done/wages everything on hold until wigan/weds sorted then the court cases if relevent by the other teams affected
Agreed and if the original points deduction is enough to relegate them then the ensuing extra punishment should be applied next season .
