That's the Tory way. Short arms long pockets - promise big, but when you look at the details its down to someone else to sort out. See also the BBC getting the blame for the over 75s TV licences that the government stopped funding.

Exactly. The thing is, when you hear the words pay rise you get happy because it’s only natural but then you read all the crap that everyone posts about teachers and you realise that you’re going to have even less equipment to do your job next year and your TA is probably going to lose their job and that 3.1% is all going to go on stuff for your classroom and really, all that announcement has done is made schools poorer, put people out of a job and made the general public hate you even more.

It's the same with the NHS unison want a pay rise for it's members and £2000 lump sum (danger money) for working through the worst of the pandemic. It won't be paid by the government though. It will be up to the trusts to re-budget to pay it's staff. This will mean more cuts and strikes along the way.

The short (and correct) answer is that they have funded it themselves!

    To give a quick comparison 2010 v 2020

    Teachers starting salary £21,588 v £24,373 12.9% increase
    Min Wage (age 22) £5.93/hr v £8.20/hr 38.3% increase
    MP £65,738 v £81,932 24.6% increase

    Food for thought..................

Sadly, I believe they will - unless by some miracle that Brexit doesn't happen.

And anyone who votes for them want to take a long hard look at themselves.

care workers are employed by private companies. How do you think the govt can give them a pay rise?
