Fair play for the positivity mate. Until it's mathematically impossible we're still in it. So so disappointing today though. I said in another thread about the 'will 10 points be enough' question, as if another 10 points would be easy enough to pick up.. I think we underestimated the challenge, possibly because the last three games have been assured and professional performances. Today's showing was gash, and the players need to have a long hard look at themselves and then go again Tuesday.
Yep that’s what I do tbh , they’ve been brilliant last three games and I’ve said so. They’ve been pathetic today and I don’t mean just played bad , the attitude , passion and the simplest of things had been pathetic and I’m calling them out . After today I’ll start to gee them up again and try to believe . I’m not one that’s blaming the manager or the board for that performance , that’s totally down to players and attitude , it’s not been a bad day at office it’s been a can’t be bothered day at office imo . I’m giving **** out today because they deserve it. Tomorrow’s another day .
The board deserve every little bit of stick they get. They've created the most embarassing Barnsley team I've ever seen. I'm really angry about it.
Based on what, not what had gone since lockdown. That still doesn’t answer the question about our poor performance though.
You can't claim though when we win, we just got the rub of the green. Stoke got the rub of the green then today! Like I say, judge them on how we perform in our remaining matches. If we remain at the level today, we will rightly end up relegated. If we step back up to the plate, then we still have a fantastic chance of staying up. I'm just not going into nuclear meltdown mode after picking 7 from 9 points up. You reds!
Team that was relegated from champ last time was 100% poorer than our current team. Plus it included plenty of experience.
We are not outplaying teams after the covid break. None of them. There's not a lot to choose between those at the bottom, but i can't see any classy play going forward that will create goals and get us out of this.
Another bad day against stoke just like at oakwell they been on a terrible run n come n to us n hammered us for 4
Only thing that surprised me today was Struber not changing things sooner - he doesn't usually normally mess about but waited until we had been 3-0 and half time before changing anything. Today should have been a just don't lose kind of day. Not capitulate and not even make it a contest. Things I've learnt though - Luke Thomas shouldn't be in a starting line up ever again. Ben Williams should have been subbed after the first 10 mins and I would stop starting games with Woodrow on the pitch.
Stoke didn't out play us today. We were the making of our own downfall today. But how we react in the next match will be the true test now. Still 15 points to play for. Every single one of those goals could easily have been avoided with better decision making. COYR
They need more than straight heads to go toe to toe with Leeds, Forest and Brentford. We’ve played a side on its knees today, devoid of any confidence, a side we could have overhauled. And rolled over to have our belly tickled. Getting beat I can take, losing to a relegation rival, yeah ok if they’re better on the day. But we’ve lost twice to Stoke this season and they’ve never at any point looked anything other than dreadful. The side have been praised where they deserved it. They will be heavily criticised tonight. Some of it will be overly extreme, but the vast majority will be completely justified. That today was an inexcusable mess and they should be having strong words worth eachother in that dressing room.
Anything is possible especially in the strange arena that is football now. However some of the other results last week have left us with a lot to do now. Realistically we are going to need to win 3 of the 5 to be in with a shout. Given the remaining games that doesn't look easy.
Thats footy all over though. Take the rough with the smooth. We beat Fulham convincingly home and away, and they are promotion contenders. Stoke may have also been bad in general today but they didn't play like a team low on confidence and their finishing to be fair to them was first class.
Look at the odds before the game kicked off. It was more likely to be a Stoke home win. That's what happened. It WAS on the cards.
We do seem to play better against better teams for some reason.. Think we may now see Stoke end up safe.. Boro, Wigan, Luton for the drop.
