I’d be more surprised if they haven’t. Not that I think they should, but cash must be incredibly tight at the moment.

Surely it would be a sensible step to take given they can’t go watch football?
Not sure how it works now, but scouts used to get paid on finds, so perhaps it’s more of a case of that being stopped until further notice

Surely not, they must be absolutely worth the money we spend on them!

My mate who is/was an academy scout rang me on Friday to say he along with the rest of the academy scouts had been finished and the development centre closed so it's not a rumour it's fact.
As for payment they were on a retainer but without giving details I would expect the club to save about £150 per scout per month.
Not a fortune but I suppose cuts have to be made somewhere. It means that we will be taking bigger clubs cast offs i.e. Romal Palmer

Didn't know we had any, they don't bother turning up for my youngs un team so instead they've all been picked off by Man City and Sheff Utd.

Well considering football matches are currently limited in the number being played, and limited to essential staff attending only, then it makes sense that the staff haven’t much to do I guess (although I know a lot is done by video these days in the initial stages).

Were these staff directly employed or just causal contract workers as such? I presume they weren’t directly employed, as they could have stayed on furlough I guess, until the point where the club had to contribute more.

On a temporary basis it makes perfect sense without any football being played for them to watch/analyse. However, I hope it is only temporary because bringing through young local lads is so important to a club like ours.
