Proof that Will is the cultured one in the household. I'd say their recognisability went in order Bach, Britney, MCR but I knew all 3 straight away
I've never felt so old as watching the video in the OP. Then there are people that feel even older because they're on the OTHER side of it. You old ********.
It just shows you how far music has progressed since the bad old days of the Beatles, stones, cream, bowie, ,,,,,,,,,,,,,
I must be getting old because I just don't get Tick Tock. I'd never heard of it until a few weeks ago when a much younger colleague of mine brought it up on a Teams call.
You are just too young. One of the most influential rock bands of the 1960’s Their guitarist was a guy called Eric Clapton you must have heard of him. Possibly the Drummer as well called Ginger Baker. Didn’t leave the legacy of classic tracks that some did but influenced the musical direction
Thanks for that. I thought at first it was just a typo of “Queen” Yeah heard of Eric Clapton. Not sure where from but defiantly know of him.
Not even 'Layla'? One of the most influential guitarists of all time. Out of a long list of famous guitarists, music greats such as Eddie Van Halen, Brian May, Lenny Kravitz and Mark Knopfler have all named him as one of their key influences. 'Clapton is God' frequently appeared on walls as graffiti in that era. Incidentally, and it is not hyperbole Ginger Baker who dies last year was one of the greatest if not THE greatest influence on Rock drumming of all time. Apparently though,he was a total PITA .
Know most of the original video but not really my bag. More a grunge/rock man myself. With a mix of electronic and hip hop thrown in.
Ok with my Pedant hat on. Layla was not a Cream record. It was a separate recording by Clapton who’s subsequent career had several memorable hits. Tears in Heaven and Wonderful tonight may be ones even @BarnsleyReds may have heard I know Baker was a great drummer hence my comment about great influence. But I can believe a young un might not have heard of him.
I could guess at some of the titles, but I don't know any of the artists and I don't know any of the the songs. Actually, I might know one of the artists. I know Missy Elliot has a track called Get Ur Freak On. I don't know her stuff, I don't know that song, but I know she has a track of that title that was critically acclaimed and someone in that compilation was singing those words.
There was a documentary about Clapton where he described his lowest point when he was alcohol dependent. He said the only thing that saved him from suicide was the thought that he wouldn’t be able to drink any more! Hilariously rock n roll!
