daughter with disability been shielded for a while developed severe chest infection over the weekend - worried re covid 19 - Sunday a.m phoned 111 - appointment at County Way testing centre for 1 p.m. Sunday. Test done by soldiers manning centre and swabs sent for checking. 11 a.m. Monday - result on mobile phone - thankfully negative. Impressed with efficient service!
Great news. It shows how more efficient things are now compared to where we were. That's how it needs to stay as more and more places open again. That you were seen so quickly is a good sign that people don't have symptoms so aren't needing to book a test.
the test was booked by the person at the other end of the 111 line - I don't think you can just drop in. Everything done by mobile phone at the centre - strange to be speaking to a guy with his phone stood just outside the car. Window lowered just enough to get testing kit in. 10 seconds on tonsils and then using same swab up the nostril 10 seconds. Swab put in vial which has some liquid in and vial (is that the right word?) dropped off. Your sample number is linked to your mobile phone and message arrives on phone later. I was just impressed that the whole process took less than 24 hours - and this was on a Sunday as well.
