Just thinking about all the discussions the media etc have had on playing behind closed doors. Maybe there is a case that this is more likely to impact on the seasoned professional rather than a really young player. Most young players will have only just come out of an environment when they have been playing weekly with no fanbase in grounds cheering them on. So a deathly quiet stadium may be less daunting for a team like our young lads for instance than a buzzing Elland Road crowd baying for the opponents scalp. SHould we just play the U23's..haha.
Not much positivity so far.. good job we are playing behind closed doors, maybe takes a little pressure off the lads. Strange how a crowds emotion can be felt within the ground, even without the obvious crowd slating players, sometimes you can just feel the tension in the air.
We're doomed. Going 4-2-3 would be a decent return. Wins against Miwwo, Wigan, Blackburn and Luton, draws against Stoke and Forest, lose the rest. It still only takes us to 48. Our only hope was null and void.
There are quite a number of 6 pointers in the last games....I think seven points will be just too many for us to make up, but I reckon at least one, possibly two of the teams currently outside the bottom three will be relegated.
Until it's mathematically impossible, I'm normally very upbeat about our ability to survive in the Championship. Having said that, this time round I have a nagging feeling that we've given ourselves far too much to do this time round. At this stage with nine games to go ( five away and four at home) ,a seven point deficit and a goal difference of minus 20, I'm sad to say I see only one outcome re- relegation. Unlike some fans, I'm also not overly optimistic that this present squad have the necessary qualities to figure in any promotion shake up from League One, especially if two or three of our better players are sold over the close season.
When I cast my vote there was 43% of us right and 57% of you wrong about staying up. The good thing is that 100% of us will be cockahoop when we do.
Before this I said no... but this plays into our favour. Having a young squad who will recover better has to be an advantage? So I’m a maybe....
I’ll say no but I do think there’s a realistic chance we could finish above Luton, Hull & Charlton. I’d say about 30% at the minute as I think there’s a good chance Charlton & Hull won’t win a game (apart from against each other). Today is huge though. It is must win. Due to the difficulty of our last few games we need to get points on the board straight away. One thing I’ll say about this group is they never stop fighting & they’ve always got goals in them. Any manager or pundit will tell you it’s a lot easier to organise a team better defensively than it is to inject some creativity into them without bringing new players in. I just wish the gap was only 4 or 5 points. Needing 2 more wins than Charlton & Hull out of 9 games is a lot more realistic than needing 3 extra wins. The Wednesday & Birmingham home games were great opportunities to get 3 points that we didn’t take.
We’re on a hiding to nothing, but have to give it a good go ! I’m bizarrely confident today but should we lose I think that’s game over
