AMBITION !!! ........ Ethan Pinnock left Barnsley because they didn’t have the same ambition. Talk to any football fan from Barnsley that has decided to follow Leeds or the Sheffield clubs and very often the words ‘ambition’ is used i.e. Barnsley has no ambition. It is vital for the success of the club that the perceived lack of ambition at Barnsley is once and for all put to bed. Over the last few decades the club has been through and is still going through a rollercoaster ride. Any success has not been solidified and has been quickly followed by failure. The directors now need to show real intent.
Delhi- Black monkey hysteria taking over the world. Care to enlighten us all regarding what the statement actually means? Especially when it's been linked to discussion about race?
Otherwise means I wanted to go back down south and get more money.I have no doubt it was same scenario as Hourihane,we could have offered same terms but they still would have gone.
I think that we know where we are Nudge with these owners and nothing will change until they go. It’s often the case that ex employees will have a little dig at their previous employers but in our case I’m not surprised by whats been said.
That and the owners policy is all about cashing in at the right time so we are told. Pinnock had 1 year left he didnt want to sign a new deal he will be getting more at brentford then we could offer him we sold him for relatively cheap and replaced him with a load of cheap gambles. With hourhine he went from earning 4k a week to 28k and from playing infront of 13k to 30k in one of the biggest clubs in the division. although according to GG and PC we offered him a contract to make him the highest paid Bfc player of all time on 16k a week but he still wanted to leave.
I think the idea has spread around the football world that players come here, impress and move on. Players arriving thinking they'll play 2 years and bounce. It's working well but we need some consistency too...
Yes I really hope the directors throw millions into the club and pay hugely inflated and unsustainable wages to mediocre players, you know just like Bolton, Brum, Derby, Wednesday etc have done. I'm sure there'll be a huge queue of top players waiting to join us at Barnsley the glamour club of the country. The club has always had ambition otherwise there's no point in existing, but the reality is that we have been constrained by our resources historically, and the current owners do not invest tens of millions into their clubs. People cite Bournemouth as a great example of success after a major cash injection but even they have had problems In 2016, Bournemouth were found guilty of violating the Football League's Financial Fair Play regulations during 2014–2015, the season it secured promotion to the Premier League. The club's over-spend broke the ‘maximum deviation’, with a £38.3 million financial loss in 2014–2015. This followed a loss of £10.3 million in 2013–2014. The club was originally fined £7.6 million by the Football League, but subsequently negotiated a settlement with a fine of £4.75 million for breaching Financial Fair Play rules So they have lost almost £50 million in just those 2 years, been fined almost 5 million and what have they won?
footballer cites lack of ambition for jumping ship shocker! Its the most used reason every season. Until the EfL grow some and enforce their own financial rules clubs who try to play fair are always going to be blamed for lack of ambition, same applies with the ridiculous parachute payments
Im not sure where you sit on this Nudge? One minute im reading comments that these are the right owners and they need time and fans should show patience, next your saying they need to show try intent and put to bed the perceived ambition. Are you playing both sides or do you have a view on whether these owners have the right ambition to match the fans or not.
The ambition of the Sheffield clubs is off the charts, like. One cup between them since the 1930s. Where do I sign up for a bit of this?
I guess our ambition should be to cheat our way to the top. Seems like its the model most championship clubs have adopted and one reason why we cant compete. It's also a reason I'm losing faith in football all together.
I hoped when they took over we would have kept the hourihanes and pinnocks and started to offer better wages and build a squad challenging in the championship without spending millions on transfer fees. But instead they sell players to pay there loans off. I just don't see any improvement for years to come, hope we don't have too many failures and crowds off 6000 in league 1 or 2.
https://financialfootballnews.com/b...eased from, are sweating over their compliance. Scroll to the yellow part that says this...... I am glad we aren't ambitious enough to be seventy million pounds in debt.
Thanks for that link, also just have a read of the Barnsley financial position (2018) https://financialfootballnews.com/category/barnsley/ Shocking outcome of the Roberts and MacDonald transfers!
Just throwing this out there considering some might not know what Nudger is referring to and he started his own thread ..........
