Would we go for it if we are guaranteed a premier leage style parachute payment?

So if the FA/Football league guaranteed us no loss of TV money 1st year, 75% second year?

**** yes to get relegated but it would possibly enable us to come back stronger.

Of course it gives us that uneven advantage over the other league clubs, but then again they wouldn't have been relegated without been given the chance to retain their league position.

I don’t think we will be. I suspect that Conway is not bluffing about legal action for breaches of FFP. It’ll be an interesting few months.

Yeah but if that scouse tw at Parry gets his way with salary cap trying to achieve promotion would be like walking Keith Hill's tightrope with two broken legs.

One of the advantages of having American businessmen is that Litigation is common over there and they would not be afraid to go down that route.

yes I think it’s nailed on that if they don’t deduct points from the obvious culprits we will do it and I suspect we will win.

Why are we suddenly afraid of a salary cap? With a salary cap in place across divisions maybe we wouldn't see players jumping ship by clubs waving wads of cash in front of em.

It would surely be a good thing for smaller clubs, level the playing field somewhat?

They will see it coming and deduct just enough for them not to be relegated.

Yeah it would bring us down to Fleetwood and Gillingham's level. To my mind the main problem is we're too good for League 1 but lacking in Championship. Salary cap takes away the clubs only advantage. No longer a big fish in that division.

It seems all clubs are keeping their powder dry at the moment.
What will be interesting will be how the mid-table teams vote - if they vote for things to be voided than it could well mean that financial and delaying legal action will NOT follow.
If they vote for teams to be relegated then they risk having the restart of football delayed if as seems likely legal action will follow.

I think Conway and others in a similar position will have to take legal action if they are relegated because they will have to at least show the fans they didn't give up without a fight.

Don't think Conway cares what the fans think. He'll take legal action if there's money in it for them.

I suppose it depends what the cap is, I’m not sure it would go right down to that level. I’d hope, like probably most of us, that the cap would stop the gap in the championship and us being so huge, particularly the wages difference.

It could be that the smaller clubs use a cap as a reason to pay their players proportionately less.
I don’t know, but it might be a bit like that now,
“I know so and so’s on £25k, so I must be worth £10k!

Not that I know of Helen, but in America it’s done all the time and quite standard. So it’s not like it’s something new to them.

That’s true but I’d like to think that our established recruitment strategy, as much criticised as it is, will afford us an advantage.

A salary cap in Championship would still be way above our pay levels .

again I don’t think they will get much past our owners on that. They will look at past penalties as a guide.

Plus our owners can afford to take legal action. I don't think Conway is bluffing.

I really hope they aren’t bluffing as someone needs to take the EFL to task. The way they run the game is absolutely shocking. This is not me saying this due to our current position, I know we have been bad at times this season, but we have also been very good: how can they do a PPG prediction when no one would have thought we would have put 4 past Fulham over 2 games without conceding, the whole thing is flawed.
