"But AstraZeneca has stressed that the vaccine may not work and that it is still waiting results from an early stage trial in southern England, before any moves towards late stage testing.

There are so far no approved treatments or vaccines for COVID-19 among those being tested by pharmaceutical giants across the world and experts predict a safe and effective means of preventing the disease could take 12 to 18 months to develop."

Why do newspapers put up such misleading headlines. They have no idea if it will work yet and no time to do proper trials for long term effects
even if it does appear to work a lot of people will be very cautious about taking it If you are under 50 and in good health why would you risk a vaccine for which the long term effects are totally unknown?
The Anti Vaxers would have a field day

Isn't that how a vaccine works? You would still be able to catch something just have a much stronger antibody repsonse.

This is all quite confusing. Is the AZ/ Oxford vaccine news just a smokescreen, designed to give everyone false hope?

The experts repeadetdly some out with 12 months minimum, so I don't understand why the UK authorities keep repeating September as a date.

I'd love there to be 30 million doses by September and I believe they can make them if the vaccine is found to be safe - but will it really be tested in time?

The vaccine could have worked better in the monkeys but it's not a lost cause. The monkeys all lived and the symptoms were so weak they were fine. The problem was not getting rid completely so it could be passed on. But even if the vaccine can only make it like a cold at least we can get back to normal.

Yeah I believe that the vaccine could work, I just don't understand the 2 very contrasting timescales that are being described!

It was surprising when our government ordered 100 million doses for ourselves and to help out poorer countries. Yet now Trump has spent a billion to get 300 million doses that's got to be a positive as more and more countries trust the vaccine enough to pay to get in line for it. If we keep virus numbers down it won't need rushing out as quickly. For example the NHS England website shows just one Covid death came yesterday in the 59 and under age group.

Its a huge leap from him saying it isn't something theyve addressed when asked a random question out of the blue to 'its looking like its going to be mandatory'.

I haven't contacted Margot Robbie and addressed whether she is going to be *ahem* 'feasting on my gentleman sausage'but I doubt it's likely. It certainly isn't looking mandatory
