KFC boxes, wrappers and chicken bones thrown onto the side of the road on a beautiful country road near me. For weeks the local area has been the cleanest I have seen it in years. Now the fast food brigade will be littering the countryside with their trash, as well as plastic bottles and drinks cans. I just cannot begin to comprehend the thought process which leads them to chuck it from the car rather than take it home, or stop at a bin. Modern society eh?
The environment in general has benefited greatly from this lockdown. It's a shame it will only be temporary.
Humans are the real virus on the planet, we are one of if not the only species that do this to their own habitat
I can't comprehend the morons that queued for ages when it reopened to get some.... The one near me reopened and every time I have had to drive passed it the queues have been ridiculous. I mean don't get me wrong I enjoy a KFC but it's not worth sitting in a queue for an hour for and its only be closed a few weeks.
Yup, mi mam would've given me a thick ear if she had seen me just lob rubbish, and thankfully it stuck with me!
There was a report yesterday highlighting the global reduction of CO2 etc.. but sadly it then went on to say how even with this massive change it was nowhere near enough to meet the requirements to reduce them to the required levels. Things simply cant afford to go back to 'normal'.
OP must be lucky, most places there's been more fly-tipping than usual as the recycling centres were closed.
I have seen one place near me which seems to grow a stack of used tyres every couple of months but the council are quick to collect them, generally we suffer more from the casual disposal of packaging from the car window than fly tipping. I remember at school it was drummed into us to be respectful of the environment, not to drop litter, to use bins or take it home etc and I recall the big advertising campaigns, "Keep Britain Tidy" on telly regularly. I can never bring myself to actually purposely throw a piece of rubbish on the floor. About 3 seasons ago I was walking down to the ground with my son when a couple of late teens lads in front of us threw burger wrappers over their shoulder. My son confronted them, told them to pick them up and put them in the bin. They did so in shock, probably never been challenged in that way. Don't doubt they would have later continued littering as they blatantly didn't give a monkey's
The best ones are the nobs that order from the drive thru and sit in their car instead of the restaurant eating the muck and then the open the car door and chuck the rubbish out when there is a bin 3ft away from their car.
I saw a good idea recently that all drive thru's should print the vehicle registration number on the packaging which makes it easier t trace the culprits
