Some of the comments having a go at him are ridiculous. He won't be the only person who lives with someone at high risk. I suspect most clubs will have someone missing.
Be the same when schools etc. re-open with both parents not sending their kids and staff refusing to go in. It's his choice at the end of the day.
Fair play to him. He's rich and can choose to protect himself. He's probably being over cautious but that's his right.
Absolutely fair enough, completely his choice. Wouldn't be mine, but I'm alright with others holding different views. That's at the crux of the argument for releasing the lockdown - people should have freedom of choice.
I fully understand his position and sympathise with him. However, if a factory or warehouse worker took the same stance would they be entitled to pay? I ask in all honesty because I don’t know the answer. If he were to take the same stance through into next season, if it happens, what would his pay situation be? So many unanswered questions in all this mess in all walks of life.
Good point. I think furlough should be optional. You should be able to go to your supervisor, put your case forward and apply to be furloughed even if you are a key worker.
I don’t think he has a choice really. He has a family member. ‘at risk’ . So his. ‘ choice’ is, go play football, risk picking the virus up, pass the virus to the family member who could then become dangerously ill or even die. I reckon a lot of people on here wouldn’t go back to work ever again if meant putting a loved ones life at risk. That’s not a choice, it’s a no-brained for me.
Not a hard choice to make when you are already set for life financially. Don’t really understand the praise.
If you had a 5 month old kid from a high risk BAME background with breathing difficulties you genuinely would choose to risk their life to kick a ball around. Man that’s wild.
He has every right to his opinion and his decision should be supported. Under his circumstances I would probably do the same as him.
