Unless my maths has got very bad since I left school, 807 (14/5) - 794 (13/5) = 13 new cases in the past day.

Officially, just over 1000 people have recovered in the UK (from 233000 cases). We don't release recovery data.

Your right but it’s still showing a 2% increase every day. The graph never levels out. 2% sounds low but in space of a month it really isn’t. To me it still shows the virus is still as active now as it was 2 weeks ago.

    No change

Barnsley town population is around 97,000 with an overall borough population of around 247000, I think next year we're due a census.

There is a slight downwards trend - I made a graph of the new cases per day which is more helpful than the cumilative graph to see the trend and there is a definite decrease fro 17 cases per day 2 weeks ago to around 9 now so if that trend continues it should disappear in the next month or so.

All depends though on whether the relaxation of lockdown leads to a second spike

I think that whenever I hear on the news "the death toll rises again"

It's hardly going to go down is it.

Bit difficult to follow the graph. As Bruner says it’s cumulative. Also the more tests we take daily the more likely we will see a rise in figures testing positive. Doesn’t mean that the increases are rising necessarily. Only more being confirmed.
    Eg
1000 had it last week, but not confirmed
500 had it this week, confirmed.
    Which leads to misinterpretation.

It is coming down. We all know that the day on day reporting gets unreliable around the weekend so looking at day on day increases isn't the greatest help. I think what is better is to compare each day to the same day the previous week so as to mitigate against the reporting anomalies. When you do that you see the below:
    Graph.jpg

This clearly suggests that the rate of infections is slowing, as there is a steady decline in the rate of increase measured across 7 days.

Barnsley have had one death recorded out of 13 across the whole of 5.6 million Yorkshire in the past 24 hours. I would say they are doing pretty well. As for the government it did a lot of tests but not so many people, so it seems many have had more than one test.......

I went for a test also today in sheffield the over flow car park for meadowhall is the test site, was very easy to book and was surprised to see 4 test sites within a 30 mile radius but all of them had over 200 slots spare, just shows the capacity is there just not the people booking them as they dont feel the need to get tested, I was at the site for about half an hour

So.....the national rate (R) has now risen from 0.5 to 1 over the last week. Silly loosening the lockdown. Give people an inch and they will take a mile.

I personally can see the next 2 weeks being a critical period. We either go one way or the other.

Barnsley had 129 deaths up to the end of April we are likely to have 150 now. Hong Kong a City of 7440000 have had 4 deaths. I wonder where the British Government went wrong?
