Brilliant Ben - loved that one. Brought back memories of the "Headless Chicken!". Ran his knackers off for us. Reight player!
Another entertaining hour from a very humble man. Brendan was a lot better player than given credit for. Always gave 100% every single game which should be a bare minimum in my eyes. Andy Rammell was another from that era who was also underrated.
Do you know why he was never the matchday announcer after that incident Ponte.? Did he quit or was he pushed.? It wasn't his fault really. Somebody must have conveyed the content he had to read out to him. Can't remember the exact detail, but our game had been finished a good five minutes or so, before it was announced that Brighton and not us had qualified for the play offs. In those days I used to park in the Metrodome car park and after the news broke the mood quickly changed from one of euphoria to deep disappointment. The walk back to the car amongst our fans returning to their transport was positively funereal. Can't begin to think how our players felt.
Thank you again for a great hour of reminiscing. It took a while to get over the fact that his flowing locks were gone but what a genuine, humble guy he is. Well done to all involved.
I remember him playing Don’t Cry For Me Argentina by Julie Covington all the time, dullest entertainment ever!
Here's a snippet of last night to entice anyone who doesn't normally watch the full interviews. I deliberately didn't cut the 'Gerry Taggart on Fire' story .........
If memory serves we had to beat Boro by three goals to take their place , the fact we scored so early on and I think last fifteen minutes or so we just held onto ball because we thought we were through . I could be wrong with my memory morphing some games into others and confusing things.but something like that rings a bell We beat Boro one nil and imo we could have got the three goals .
