Blimey, 25 years ago! Where's the time gone? Those highlights show just why Brendan was such an excellent finisher. 'Headless Chicken' my extremely large bum!
Whilst living in Barnsley did he ever get to go darn pit? And if he did what did he think being a southern softy ?
If we still had our dogs, they'd be the only ones who could hear you talk! When all this is over, I'll definitely buy you a drink, old mate. This series has been enjoyable, extremely entertaining, very informative and you have played a huge part with your questioning and stylish presentation skills. It's been an absolute Godsend during these traumatic times. Thank you.
Mate I'll just be happy when we get back to a place where I'm regularly pouring you a pint on a Match Day again! It's been a Godsend for myself as well being honest and I can't thank the people we've interviewed enough for being so bloody brilliant - all about them really but thank you.
What a win that was. Couldn't wait to get into work to discuss the game with our three dedicated blunt Blades.
I'm sure I read somewhere that the celebrating ballboy to the left of the goal is Chris Morgan, anyone know if that's true?
Nice bottle of veno on the go, Red, OF COURSE, ready to hear from Brenden. That win at Elland Road was genius. Taggart played in midfield for first 70 minutes from memory.
Thanks Ben - another great interview! What a top man Brendan is - genuinely grateful about being given the opportunity to talk about his career in general and time at Barnsley in particular! I hadn't heard the story about Gerry Taggart - amazing!
This in spades. He was so happy to be able to talk through those memories and his time at Barnsley. What a lovely bloke!
Excellent interview and great to hear Brendan talking about his time at our club . Loved watching him play , he never gave less than 100% and scored some vital goals .
Another good one Loko. You're starting to make these look easy to do, and that's a real credit to you. He was probably the fittest player I've seen play for Barnsley, had a knack of scoring crucial goals too. Often overlooked when putting together our "greatest 11", but we were always a better team with him in it. I liked what he said about the bond between the players of his time and the area, mixing with them after training and living in the area, with the odd exception, it's something that's declined over the years.
Another great stream. Thanks Ben and support "team". Revived some happy memories and one that was very frustrating. I was on the Ponte Road terrace the day that Brendan mentioned when "we thought "we had qualified for the play offs. The matchday announcer was on the microphone and said " the Reds are in the play offs" and then started to outline the provisional ticketing arrangements for the two legs. Gerry and the rest of the team, suddenly appeared in front of the Directors box in the West Stand and proceeded to spray the fans in the West lower concourse with bubbly. I had my small radio pressed to my ear when Sports Report started. They relayed the fact that Brighton had scored and therefore if it stayed that way, had pipped Barnsley for the last play off spot. I conveyed that fact to the fans in the immediate vicinity and was totally unprepared for one particular fans reaction. Blood red in the face, nostrils flaring and fists at the ready, he aimed a stream of expletives in my direction. I saw the same bloke at the next home game and I was not in the least bit surprised that he never offered an apology. After that game, we never heard the matchday announcer on the Mic at Oakwell ever again.
