Seems a singer losing weight is just as important as a controversial, premature lockdown to most British papers.

Seriously though, easing lockdown on Monday seems to me absolutely barmy given current death records

Just seen on BBC that "The BBC understands that the "stay at home" message could be scrapped"

If so that will open the floodgates and the streets will be swamped with people desperate to get out. The lockdown would collapse with potential catastrophic consequences.

I wonder what the NHS front line and the relatives of the dead will make of that?

We were late locking down and early opening up when compared to our neighbours. 6,111 cases yesterday that were confirmed via a test only. Italy, not on the list below had only 1,444.

Just read the BBC article myself. We are going to end up with a second massive surge in numbers. Nothing has changed - there is no vaccine. The same carriers are still at large within the population. I'm no epidemeologist (can't even spell it...) but it seems bloody obvious to me that this is going to result in many more cases and deaths.

Echoing AthersleyReds' comment..... absolutely f***ing stupid man.

The 5 government tests (paraphrased slightly)
1 Making sure the NHS can cope - currenly met
2 A 'sustained & consistent' fall in death rate - it is declining at the moment so met
3 Rate of infection down to 'manageable levels' - its going up again and higher than when lockdown introduced - Not met
4 Ensuring supply of tests & PPE can meet future demand - doesnt appear to be met at the moment
5 Confident adjustments would not risk 2nd peak - Hard to see how this is met

so just 2 out of 5 by my reckoning

Thanks Boris for allowing the bus and rail companies to operate a limited service to supposedly help key workers. I don't see how walking into Rotherham at 5:30 in the morning because my usual bus has been knocked off is helping me to catch a train to Wakefield and then another to Pontefract with hourly services meaning if I miss one I'm late for work that really helps.

What helps even more is scrapping the stay at home message and allowing **** wits back onto public transport who just fancy a walk round Pontefract Park instead of their local park just because they are now allowed to.

As it stands nothing has been said other than newspaper speculation.

The lockdown isnt going to Monday morning just end with queues outside Chennels from 9am.

Itll be a staggered approach similar to ROI and some european countries.

    Eg mon 11th car garages
    Mon 25th high street retail

And so forth relaying back to the science/data and adjusting accordingly.

As it stands people have been scared into next week about catching the disease rather than the consequences.

At so point youve got to start living again.

Yeah - but ah **** it. Everybody will be in good spirits after a Bank Holiday and it'll look as though the Government are Getting Stuff Done again.... Bloody criminal IMHO.

Except for those that die. ‘Living again’ is a possibility right now that have competently dealt with this situation. The uk government has not, and that has a direct impact whether you like it or not.

I am curious who cultists like yourself and Jay are willing to sacrifice to get things open and the virus spreading. Your parents? Your wives? Children?

Nobody is excited at the prospect of a continued or more strict lockdown, but that is where we have to be. The short sightedness of opening up when the situation is not under control like it is in S Korea is absolutely farcical and will lead to many more deaths and a larger economic impact as we are plunged into another inevitable lockdown.

I’m sure at that point they’ll come back with the hindsight is 20:20 yet again, having ignored any dissenting opinions in the mean time.

The Republic of Ireland’s staggered approach may not be the best way. On joining the EU and deciding to follow our European cousins lead in driving on the right, they proposed cars and vans changed sides in the first week, lorries and buses the week after.

Just a point about No. 1 NHS can cope - only because scheduled appointments have been postponed by the thousands and how many NHS staff died after contacting the virus? Serious questions about coping in my book

Where is all this undoing of lockdown on Monday coming from. I can’t see anything anywhere and there’s no way it will happen.
Minor tweaks to help businesses is all I can see happening.

‘Cultists’. LOL. I heard Jay and Deetee have formed a commune and sit around a fire at night with their 97 wives, laughing as the death figures get read out.

Just go out, we have been enjoying staying in too much.....

Chair of the Conservative backbench 1922 committee, Graham Brady, has called for the lifting of “arbitrary rules and limitations on freedom as quickly as possible” and suggested the public had been “a little too willing to stay at home”.

They were tipping that the lockdown would continue, but that you could go out for exercise outdoors several times and further afield. Also to encourage people to work where they can. They will be drip feeding ideas from today to Sunday before announcing what will happen.
