I think the figures they announce today will be yesterday’s, which is the first day that eligibility widened to include over 65s etc. so we may see a large increase. And then we’ll only hear the figure for today either late tonight or at Friday’s briefing. An extra 48,000 certainly does seem unlikely though.
I’m setting myself a target of running a marathon, I have zero intention of doing it but I’ve strained every sinew to walk around a field a few times, I know that’s not quite a marathon but I think everyone should recognise and praise me for how bold and brave I’ve been.
Instead of testing most people twice, like they appeared to do yesterday to get the 50 odd thousand figure, test everyone three times and they're golden.
They wont hit it today - but in fairness the number of tests is finally increasing significantly. if they are a few days late hitting this target and then maintain the testing improvement its not the thing I will be most critical of. There is a much bigger issue in how long its taken us to get to this point though
I should have been counting my laps around the field twice?! Excellent, I’m still absolutely nowhere near my target of a marathon but I’m sure I can ‘ramp up’ the number of times I count them to get there soon.
It was always an ambitious goal and with hindsight they probably shouldnt have set such an ambitious target but to call it a lie is well wide of the target. I suspect that Matt Hancock may well lose his job in the cabinet as a result of failing to hit the target he set.
Can someone explain this testing ,is it only people with coughs and temperature that go ,and if there is 100,000 people with symptoms everyday how many are going to die,it’s scary or have I mis-understood reason for tests, hope you can help
Hancock has been set up as fall guy for a good while. I'd be surprised if the lasts beyond lock down.
Its not a total waste of time as it allows people to better decide whether to isolate meaning key workers with colds or relatives who feel a bit unwell can be released back to work. But its a much smaller value than it should be. The government has handled this very badly though as shown by our performance relative to countries who acted much more decisively
Boris should go,was sad he had to suffer corona and thankful he survived, but his bluff and bluster approach to life is written all over this response to the pandemic,I don’t normally get mad about politics but it’s time to call a spade a spade
Boris is still useful to the party though they need someone to blame when Brexit goes wrong and he will be jettisoned then. Wrong leader for the country at this time but right leader for the party to catch the blame and move on leaving him behind
He won't, he'll use his absence as an excuse & Hancock will walk the plank. I predicted this about 3 weeks ago & it's all set up. Can also see CMO going too & a new face being brought in.
Just seen on news,South Korea are testing and tracking and have beaten the pandemic ,why is there no tracking
