Because those that aren't listening will expose themselves to a virus, which will make them and their family members ill to varying degrees and some of them will die and others will survive with permanent lung damage. After enough of those flouting the rules are dead, it won't matter because all that will be left are those that observed the rules.

 

It isn’t though is it.

 

It wont just effect them and their families it will effect NHS workers, the joe public and the stretch NHS in general, it will keep the virus active. I was shocked at the amount of cars I even saw a work van with 3 lads in the front. I can understand people need to earn yo live and not everyone is been furloughed but I can see the virus building back up. Bnq opening stores back up on monday aswell.

 

Good, get the garden centres open as well. As long as people aren’t stupid it’ll do people good to get out, get things done around the house, the garden. Do something different than rot away watching Netflix and having drinking contests on Zoom.

Start getting people back into work, earning some money.

Because come the end of June unless something changes drastically get ******* ready. The boat without a paddle up **** creek will have more holes than a sieve

Its only your life, and the life of anyone you come into contact with, so I hope you are lucky - and if you aren't I hope you can live with yourself when you have passed a fatal disease onto someone.

That applies to anyone breaking the lockdown or planning to.

 

The money as it stands ends in June for Furlough.

And for most peoples 3 month mortgage/ rent breaks.

What happens after that?

Will we be relying on the government to keep rolling over?

At some point weve got to start living our lives again.

 

Opening bnq etc I dont have much of a problem with it's only the same principle as people going round the supermarket keep 2metre.

End of june the virus will still be here and the governments furlough scheme ends but looking at the amount of people ignoring it today they minght aswell call it a day and get kids back to school and people back to work.

 

Far too many people are still not staying away from other houses so this could go on far longer then need be, morons the lot of em.

 

Well the alternative to being furloughed is being laid off.

If I worked in the following industries my arse would be nipping:

Universities
Face to face retail
Hospitality
Car sales especially new cars
Finance origination ie lending
Food wholesale
Breweries
Making new cars
Estate agents
The sports and entertainment industry

And any respective supply chains.

Just off the top of my head

 

Yes I would too if I was in those sectors, I work in construction and still off work. I just think the 1st 3 weeks the traffic was dead, people were listening to the lockdown and now it seems alot of people are either back working or just not listening. The virus could build momentum again without a vaccine.

 

Absolutely bang on. I can honestly see that if this continues much longer with this bizarre 'everyone must have exactly the same restrictions despite the risks being significantly weighted towards one particular group' attitude and enforced legislation then I can see millions being out of work before it ends and if not before it ends extremely quickly afterwards when employers discover that they cannot afford to stay open after the government assistance ends.

Then there's the issue of vastly increased taxation afterwards to repay these grants and other government funding and the companies who were just about surviving before will not be able to continue.

Add to that those who's owners have worked hard every day to make a modest profit who may now be sat at home thinking whats the point? I'm rich enough why work myself into an early grave for not a lot of money? I can close the doors and enjoy life.

Millions out of work is no exaggeration. Millions of early deaths as a result.

 

It will anyway akin to the Spanish flu.

Thats going to be mostly ****** as well.

They NEED to change tact. I am not the same as an 80 year old. If I get it there's a small small chance I may die. It does happen sadly but thank God it's such a small chance. If an 80 year old gets it there's a massive chance that they will die. Again extremely sad but extremely true. So why the hell are we both being treated the same?

If the vulnerable were FORCED to isolate and money was spent making their isolation much much more rigid and controlled. Paying carers to isolate with them (like at the local care home where not one resident as become ill as the carers moved in with them) and paying for proper protective measures to serve them with all their needs instead of having them wandering around Tesco picking up this nasty virus. Then the rest of us could keep the country running and there would be much fewer deaths.

Its a sad fact that I don't mean to sound the way I know it's going to but if every person over 70 had isolated properly, and been given the proper support to do exactly that, then there wouldn't be 70+ year olds dying from it today. If you don't catch it you can't die from it. If you isolate you cant catch it.

Isolate the vulnerable. Give them the help and support they desperately need to do so properly. Dont force Mavis to go to Tesco because otherwise she will starve. Get the army in doing good deliveries. Save the elderly and THAT is how you reduce the strain on the nhs, save lives AND save jobs.

 

Its a little bit difficult for the over 70s to isolate when the government were shipping people who had tested positive out of hospitals and into care homes until last week and only stopped when it hit the front page of the papers.

You are correct, you can't die from it if you don't catch it, which is why countries that actually cracked down at the first sign (Denmark, Austria, New Zealand, Taiwan) are starting to come out of lockdown already and countries like the UK who dithered and delayed are f**ked. Because selfish idiots are talking now about coming out and wanting to get back to work and sod who they kill.

R0 from COVID is 5.7 - significantly higher than cold or flu. You might not die, but you are likely to pass it onto 5 people before you know you've got it. They will pass it on to another 25 people at about the time you start to get a sore throat, and they will pass it on to 125. By the time your symptoms develop and you are poorly in bed, they have infected 625 and half a dozen of them will die. By the time you recover and leave self-isolation, that 625 is between 15000 and 75000 and hundreds of them will die.
