Private landlords of University students. Whilst I have some sympathy that a contract has been signed, the fact is, that Uni students are not going to be using their rented accommodation at all now. Any money taken for "bills", is blatant profiteering. In my daughter's case it amounts to about £200.

That depends on if the landlord still has to pay those bills surely?

They are itemised for gas, electricity, water that won't be used. The company knows this, but has circulated e mails saying they don't get anything back.
When she is finally out of the contract I will post up the most staggering communication from her landlord from before they moved in. It is quite unbelievable how unscrupulous they are.

I could understand if it was the standing charges that the landlord in turn still has to pay but bills for power not used is just disgusting.

I'm also shocked your daughter is at uni (though I suspect you've mentioned it many times) in my head she's about 15 for some reason. Probably because you once posted that she was. Biglils Laura is still 10 to me
