Mass buying toilet roll is mental. We've all got showers, and if you get to the point where mains water is off then a few clegnuts are going to be the least of your worries. Similarly I went to the supermarket tonight and the bread aisle was empty. I'm pretty sure society isn't going to collapse before a loaf of hovis goes out of date.

The scourge of social media strikes again. Mind boggling how bloody daft folk are. The toilet roll stockpiling makes no sense whatsoever. Maybe you might think to buy an extra pack to usual that’s all, but for all the shelves to empty like they are is crazy. I believe this all started in Australia a couple of weeks ago. Sure I remember someone on here who was in Sydney bringing it up. Possibly Jay....?

I live in a house with 3 females, we go through roughly 36 a month. I doubt I would use more than one of them a month personally.

I can see why folk get caught up in it tbh, the idiots strip the shelves then the ones who would normally be sensible see the empty shelves and next time they see say hand gel they buy more than normal.
Speaking for myself, there’s only my wife and myself at home if one of us gets it the other will or at least have to self isolate, so we just upped our usual shop a bit so that if that happpens we have enough to live on without risking spreading any germs.

Completely agree. I went to do a shop on Wednesday night, was down to 3 loo rolls and one handwash for the whole house and there were none left. Called in at local corner shop and picked up a pack of 9 rolls (smallest quantity available) and one handwash, and left two handwashes and other packs of roll left for others. It is people grabbing whatever is left when they can manage without it that annoys me.

    Correct, it's all Jay's fault.
I'm in the Grim Reaper's top category so I'm not bothering stocking up on owt. In fact I probably ought to run my stock of bog rolls down.
    eBay here they come.

Sorry guys you are all missing the obvious!. The Italians love their 'Fagioli ' - Borlotti, Cannelini, Fava, Lima etc and eat lots. If you are not used to them and eat them regularly there is a direct correlation in the first few weeks between amount of beans consumed and the amount of toilet rolls used.
I can confirm that to be true based on personal experience if you get my drift:eek:;)

You bought an 18 pack but already had 7, 7 X 18 is the way I read it. I take it from your reply that you only had 7 single rolls not 7 x 18.

He had 7 rolls, and bought a pack of 18. Not sure where you are getting the multiplication from? :po_O

It’d be interesting to see how many of these panic buyers have sympathy for the poor souls trying to save their families from war zones by risking their lives crossing seas in rickety old boats. That, I think is something to panic about!

I also bought a packet of 18 toilet rolls, despite having 7 already in the house

Maybe if he had said 7 single rolls it may have been clearer.

I'd be genuinely surprised if anyone else read it that way, but fair enough.

    Question 1..

BarnsleyReds has 7 toilet rolls. He buys an 18 pack.

He sends 2 to Italy to Tekkytyke because they are in lockdown.

He sends 1 to Young Nudger to satisfy his curiosity.

He sends 3 to George Spicer as he always has a sore ar5e and needs to keep it clean.

He sends 4 to thetykester as that Henry Westons goes right through you.

If each roll has 240 sheets and he uses 10 sheets per ***** how many portions of beans and pasta is he safe to eat in a fortnight ? :)

Crisis like this always bring out the worst and most selfish behaviour in people. I remember how greedy people were during the fuel crisis of the seventies, and then there was panic buying of sugar due to the sugar beet crop failing. We tell ourselves we are just looking after our families, but it is just greed and self preservation, nothing more nothing less.
