Theatre productions, music concerts, Cheltenham and such. Arena tours? Various shows in the NEC and other such venues.

A more general rule such as "gatherings more than X people indoors or Y people outdoors" to be banned if/when it comes to that. That would then implicitly stop those matches from happening. At least, assuming the FA don't want to have all games happening without crowds.

Over here, NBA and NHL seasons suspended. NCAA tournaments cancelled. MLB Spring Training cancelled and Opening Day delayed two weeks.

Theater productions closed for one month. Gatherings of more than 250 people discouraged.

I may just hibernate until June.

If sports events with fresh air etc have to be cancelled then can’t see how any of the above with enclosed environments, closer proximity etc can go ahead personally

Here in Italy ALL church services, notably mass, weddings , christenings and funerals are banned. Funerals can be carried out in a private service privately with Priest and immediate relative(s) in attendance but no processions or extended families. It is highly logical if you look at the average age of church goers these days who tend to be in the high risk category. They can go in individually as long as they maintain a distance from each other but there is no organised mass worship.

The economic 'hit' of the route taken by the Italian Govt is incalculable, but indications are, given Italy is an economic basket case anyway, means a deep recession. Nevertheless, given how the virus was/is spreading it was probably necessary.

Not sure that the UK Govt will not eventually be forced into following suit but currently they are being told by the scientist that the situation may be different to Italy. I know the main issue with Italy was one hospital broke protocol with one carrier very early on and much of the rapid escalation has been attributed to that. All those slagging the Govt off for inaction should remember they are acting on 'expert' scientific advice. This is no time to play 'petty politics' as some on here seem to be doing. That would be the case whichever party is in office.

The lockdown here , (effectively a curfew) IS being strictly adhered to and there are daily reports in the media of people being caught by spot checks for straying beyond their own commune (even pedestrians) without authorisation document showing 'legitimate cause'. The restrictions are too numerous to list here but they are very comprehensive. Obviously people can travel to and from work (with the document) where they cannot work from home, Rubbish is still being collected and courier and delivery services are still working but traffic is very light making being spot checked far more likely which is a deterrent in itself particularly as fines are heavy and may also carry a prison sentence.

The Nazi occupation of Rome in 1944. Some of the scenes you are describing brought it to mind!

Me and the Mrs were going to see the WHO, not the World Health Organisation, in concert on Monday, but not any more. The band cancelled rather than the venue. Unfortunately it was too late to cancel the hotel booking so 2 days in Manchester it is then!

Self isolate in your hotel room. Might as well make the most of it.

We've got tickets for Upstart Crow on 9th April, I can't see it being on to be honest.

I didn't realise Sheryl Crow had joined the Angelic Upstarts. Still, if it makes her happy... I suppose a change would do her good.

Yes, my Niece was supposed to be dancing - gutted for her. Lots of things are getting cancelled without having to force them, I can't imagine there's many people going to the Cinema this weekend for example. I think in the next week gatherings of over 500 will be officially banned, at the same time as they close schools and urge everyone who can to work from home. I think 2 weeks we'll be on full lock down. We'll continue to see cases rise for 3 weeks after that, reckon it will peak around middle of April, restrictions will stay in place until the end of April at least.

Wow, so what do you do if you need to pick up regular medication from a pharmacy? Are you allowed out?
