What else would you suggest? Abandon the league?

 

This was mentioned on the radio. Unless they also stop people going to pubs, shopping centres, shows, etc its pretty pointless.

 

I heard it mentioned that if lower league games were to be played behind closed doors that some clubs could go out of business .
Who could make this financially viable ?

Pointless making them play behind closed doors unless there's a complete Nationwide lock down like in Wuhan.

 

The problem is that the teams who are in the position we are at an even worse advantage. We’ve played away at teams where thousands of fans have turned out to make our away trip as difficult as possible, now the home advantage is taken away in the reverse fixture isn’t really fair on the players. Defeats the idea of playing each other twice.

However medical health should always take precedence and rightly so, but professional advice at the moment is banning mass gatherings wouldn’t make much of a difference. But if that was to change I don’t think playing behind closed doors would be a fair answer, the games should be postponed if they ever came to that. Wouldn’t give a true reflection on the league positions If games were to be played without fans.

 

How would we go about it? Season pass price divide 23 games and then times that by how many games we can't watch to see what our refund is or be expected to lump it?

 

I think you’re giving too much weight to fans influence to be honest.

But even if you’re not, surely playing behind closed doors is a fairer reflection of the teams than just abandoning the game and not playing?

This virus is a new strain and thus is getting publicised a lot. I would like to see the figures of infected people and indeed deaths by a standard flu virus..... I wager the facts and figures will not be that far apart.

 

well todays game is going ahead with a crowd, so that would be just 4 home games to go. Not much of a refund matey.... but they could perhaps discount next seasons price for folk renewing. By which time the virus may be under control.

I do, I don’t think both teams are at a level playing field when there’s a decent crowd (especially at this stage of the season when crowds tend to be more invested and rowdy) so I don’t think it’ll be a fair reflection on the season no if all games from now were played in an empty stadium.

Maybe it’s not the right answer to postpone the games to a later date either but I don’t think playing behind closed doors is either. My opinion ofcourse.
